Donald Trump won the presidential election over Kamala Harris on Tuesday night, which could spell even more bad news for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Trump To Take ‘Appropriate Action’ Against Sussexes
Indeed, Trump has previously warned that he would take “appropriate action” against Harry and Meghan. If this happens, it’s being reported that Harry and Meghan already have a “backup plan” in place.
Harry has been desperately trying to become a U.S. citizen ever since he moved to Southern California back in 2020. Unfortunately for him, his visa application has since come under scrutiny after the royal admitted in his memoir Spare to using cocaine, smoking marijuana, and experimenting with magic mushrooms as a teenager.
In his book, Harry recounted his mushrooms experience, writing, “I stared at the bin. It stared back. ‘What-staring? ‘ Then it became… a head. I stepped on the pedal and the head opened its mouth. A huge open grin.”
With Trump’s victory, Harry’s visa will now be in the hands of the Trump administration.

Trump Fires Back
This didn’t sit well with Trump. He previously spoke out to say that President Joe Biden had been “too gracious” to Harry since his move to California.
“I wouldn’t protect him,” Trump has said of Harry. “He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me.”
Trump’s son Eric has explained that his father “loved” Queen Elizabeth and was deeply disturbed by the stress that Harry and Meghan caused her in her final years. Now that Trump has won the presidency again, Harry’s days in the U.S. could be numbered.
“I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he suddenly said ‘Right, I’m sending Prince Harry out of this country,'” royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun. “And the reasons that he would use would be the drug issue, because Prince Harry has admitted to taking marijuana, cocaine, magic mushrooms – and may not have filled that in on his visa form.”
“I think it’s very wise to take all the possibilities into account [and look to live elsewhere],” he continued. “Looking at it from the outside, it makes perfect sense that they should have a backup plan. But Meghan is very US-based and [Harry being kicked out] would be a problem for them.”
Harry And Meghan’s Backup Plan
That appears to be why Harry and Meghan have a backup plan in place in the form of a new home that they just bought in Portugal. The royals allegedly paid $4.7 million for one of 300 soon-to-be-constructed residences at the 722-acre CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club. This ritzy development is located about 81 miles south of Lisbon.
Even so, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams doesn’t believe that Harry and Meghan will move to Portugal full-time. That is, unless they have no other option.
“I don’t think that the home in Portugal is intended as a permanent base to replace California,” Fitzwilliams, told the Daily Express. “Harry was extremely foolish to discuss his drug taking in Spare both in interviews and in the memoir, available in paperback. However, the Sussexes have kept a relatively low profile during the Election, urging Americans to vote but not being explicit as to whom for.”
“At one time it was thought that Meghan might enter politics but we have seen no sign of this,” he added. “It is most unlikely that Trump would risk an embarrassing episode involving the royal family by expelling Harry, if it was discovered that he had not revealed his drug taking on his Visa application.”
We can only imagine how panicked Harry and Meghan are now that Trump has won the election. It will certainly be interesting to see how this turns out for them!
