We previously reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time. Now, their divorce has reportedly taken a disturbing turn.
Kidman And Urban Aren’t Speaking
Insiders are telling Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack that while Kidman is “hanging in there,” she and Urban are also no longer speaking. In fact, they haven’t spoken to one another since she filed. Instead, all of their communications are “running strictly through lawyers.”
“It’s not icy — it’s frozen,” one insider alleged. “Nicole isn’t ready for a heart-to-heart, and Keith isn’t pushing it. Right now, silence is the most they can agree on.”
Unbeknownst to fans, Kidman and Urban secretly split back in June. This was initiated by Urban, who immediately moved out of the family home and into his own place in Nashville. Kidman then spent the summer desperately trying to save her marriage.
Meanwhile, Kidman was also filming Practical Magic 2 with Sandra Bullock. Kidman recently told Interview Magazine that she felt “safe” and “protected” on set. Fans believe that this was a window into her emotional state.
“She’s heartbroken but functioning,” another source stated. “Her priority is the girls, full stop. Everything else — including Keith — can wait.”
Those close to Kidman concluded by saying that she’s “not shutting the door forever — just for now.”
“Talking can come later,” a friend of Kidman’s concluded. “Healing comes first.”
Urban Is ‘Embarrassed’ About Divorce
As for Urban, he’s reportedly “embarrassed” and “in hiding” amidst this divorce battle.
“Things are just too awkward right now and Keith just doesn’t have the confidence to face all the press,” a source close to Urban told recently Woman’s Day. “He’s got paps hunting him down and he’s no longer taking direct calls. Part of him is embarrassed to show his face on a red carpet until things settle down with his divorce.”
Last month, Urban skipped the premiere event of his new reality television competition show The Road. The event was held on 15 October on the rooftop of Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Though Urban lives in Nashville, he was nowhere to be found.
“He’s annoyed to have missed this. But part of him is embarrassed to show his face on a red carpet until things settle down with his divorce,” the source explained. “The last thing he needs is to overshadow his new show with all his personal issues.”
“He knows he’s being painted as the bad guy and he doesn’t want that to be the focus of The Road – he owes that to the contestants and crew,” the insider concluded.
