It’s been one week since we reported that Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock last Thursday at the age of 48. This tragically came after a private three year battle with cancer.

Earlier this week, we reported on the shock revelation that Blackstock was dating Clarkson’s former assistant at the time of his death. This was revealed in Blackstock’s official obituary, which described the former assistant as his “loving partner.” Now, Clarkson’s thoughts about her ex-husband moving on romantically with her former assistant have finally been revealed.

Blackstock Dates Clarkson’s Ex-Assistant

At the time of his death, Blackstock was dating Clarkson’s former assistant, Brittney Marie Jones. Though Clarkson was aware of the relationship, insiders say that she understandably was not happy about it. One source told Daily Mail that Blackstock dating Jones “was just the icing on the cake of the disappointment [Clarkson] felt over the delusion of their marriage.”

“Brandon chose to move on with someone Kelly knew and trusted. And that just adds to the person he ended up being to her,” the insider continued. “He was a great father, but wasn’t a great husband.”

Clarkson and Blackstock were married from 2013 until she filed for divorce in 2020, citing “‘irreconcilable differences” at the time. According to the source, the “cause” of the split was “a point of no return” for Clarkson.

Though Clarkson was disappointed that Blackstock decided to move on with someone that she “knew and trusted,” the insider stressed that the original American Idol winner “doesn’t blame” Jones. Clarkson is also reportedly eager to “drama from her fanbase” when it comes to this issue.

“When Brandon dealt more and more with his cancer, Kelly’s only goal was to make sure her kids were OK and to let him live his personal life any way he wanted to live it,” the source explained.

As for Clarkson’s current relationship with Jones, the insider said, “Kelly knew that Brittney wasn’t going to be a problem with her and her kids. There was never a misunderstanding between them.”

Blackstock’s Relationship Gets Exposed

Fans were stunned when Blackstock’s relationship with Jones was revealed in his obituary earlier this week.

“After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,” the obituary read. “He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana.’

“Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana,” it continued. Jones appears to have moved to Montana with Blackstock in 2020, the same year that Clarkson filed for divorce from him.

Last Friday, Jones’ father Larry described Blackstock as his daughter’s “soulmate” in a social media post that has since been deleted.

“Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock,” Larry wrote. He went on to describe Blackstock as being “my daughter’s soulmate,” saying that he “considered him my son.”

Jones’ History

A previous LinkedIn profile for Jones states that she was an executive assistant to Brandon Blackstock. It also says that she was an assistant to Clarkson while Blackstock managed the singer.

“I successfully assistant managed day to day for artist, Kelly Clarkson under manager, Brandon Blackstock in Los Angeles for music and television,” read the LinkedIn profile, according to The Sun.

“After a change in management for Ms. Clarkson, I transitioned to Executive Assistant for Mr. Blackstock’s cattle operation in Montana, where I currently run the office and handle administration work,” it added. “I also currently fulfill personal assistant duties for Mr. Blackstock.”

The profile went on to say that Jones was an Executive Assistant of V Bar V Cattle Co. LLC, formerly Vintage Valley Ranch. This is a company that was previously owned by Blackstock, further linking Jones to him.

Jones was previous married to Greg Goose LaPoint, with the two of them tying the knot in September of 2021. It is unclear when exactly they split.

Clarkson ‘Devastated’

Since Blackstock’s death, Clarkson’s focus has been on their two children: daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington, 9.

“When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,” an insider told People Magazine after Blackstock’s death. “Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She’s been devastated for the kids.”

This is clearly a very difficult time for Clarkson and her entire family. Please join us in saying a prayer for them.
