It’s been over twenty years since Halle Berry worked with Pierce Brosnan on the 2002 James Bond movie Die Another Day. However, she has never forgotten what a gentleman he was on the set of that film.

And what’s more, he seems to have made a big enough impression on her that he “restored her faith” in the less-fair sex!

Berry Praises Brosnan

While Brosnan played Bond, Berry played the Bong girl Jinx in the iconic movie. While she’s done many films since then, working with Brosnan is still a highlight of her career.

“He will always be my Bond, always,” Berry said of Brosnan, according to Variety. “I’m a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men on that movie. There couldn’t be a human who is more of a gentleman than Pierce Brosnan.”

“Bond wasn’t on my wish list, no, not to be in one, but I loved the movies, always,” she continued. “Having been in one, I feel like I’m a part of cinematic history. … Those movies are iconic. They will forever be a part of our history, and I’m really honored to have been a part of one, especially with Pierce.”

Berry’s Planned Spinoff Movie

Berry’s character of Jinx went over so well with fans that franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson planned for her to get her own spinoff movie.

“The plan was foiled when MGM got cold feet about the film’s $80 million budget,” Variety reported in 2020. “That decision left Broccoli incensed. One of her main goals as steward of 007 has been to shake off some of the chauvinism that characterized Bond’s appearances in the novels and early films.”

“It was very disappointing,” Berry later said of the Jinx movie falling through. “It was ahead of its time. Nobody was ready to sink that kind of money into a Black female action star. They just weren’t sure of its value. That’s where we were then.”

Berry Praises Mark Wahlberg

Berry is currently promoting her new Netflix movie The Union, which she stars in with Mark Wahlberg. Like Brosnan, he’s become another favorite leading man of hers. She recently told Audacy that she was struck by how Wahlberg makes himself “very available” to his four children at all times.

“If one of his kids called in that moment, we’d be on a roll waiting to go, and he’d be like, ‘Hello’… He’s relentless at that,” she said. “He is very available to his children. He was talking to them all the time, all hours of the night.”

Berry went on to praise Wahlberg for his ability to be “prepared” and “professional” amid his variety of responsibilities.

“He does a hundred things too, like all these businesses and stuff,” Berry said of Wahlberg. “He [is] flying somewhere and he comes back, but he comes back prepared. Like, you think somebody’s doing all this stuff he’s doing, he’d kind of be phoning it in. But he really knows his stuff. He’s prepared. And it was nice to work with people that are professional, ’cause it doesn’t always happen today.”

Between Brosnan and Wahlberg, Berry certainly has gotten to share the screen with some amazing leading men. If you’re as big a fan of Berry’s as we are, be sure to check out The Union on Netflix!
