Could Have “Dropped”

The Hollywood legend joked he could have “dropped” when his 48-year-old wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, enlisted some of his pals to “pose as waiters” for the actor’s 65th birthday earlier this month in St Tropez, South of France.

Speaking at the King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration at London’s The Royal Albert Hall on May 11, Oscar winner George quipped to British Vogue, “It’s a dangerous thing to surprise someone when they turn 65 because you could drop.”

“That could be the end of you. So you have to be very careful when you surprise people.”

“I’m still standing… barely.”

George and Amal’s Kids

The couple, who married at Venice, Italy’s five-star Aman Canal Grand Hotel in September 2014, are parents to eight-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, and they have plenty of advice for the youngsters.

George quipped, “Don’t mix grain and grape. I think that’s important for the children to know, don’t mix the two.”

Brunette beauty Amal took a different view. “I think we want them to stay curious, ask lots of questions, and challenge the things that don’t make sense to them, like much of what’s going on in the world.”

Jay Kelly star George noted the difference in perspectives. “See, my wife, she gives an elegant answer, and then I give the important answer.”

Amal quipped, “And ask your dad when it comes to drinks,” and George declared, “That’s a good idea.”

Struggle to Watch Past Films

Last month, George admitted he struggles to watch his old movies because he has changed with age, with the 2009 animated family flick Fantastic Mr. Fox being the only exception.

The entertainer explained to People magazine, “It’s a weird thing. As you get older, it’s hard to watch movies when you were younger because you’re like, holy s***, that doesn’t even look like me anymore.”

“You know, I’m watching because I’ve got 8-year-olds, I’m watching Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is a little easier because it’s not really me, it’s just my boys. And that’s kind of fun because the kids are slowly figuring out what I do for a living.”

“Not Allowed to Get Old”

In October 2025, George said Hollywood stars are “not allowed to get old.”

The ER alum explained to Empire Magazine, “You really do live your life through people’s actors and pictures.”

“And you’re not allowed to get old. I have people come [up to] me all the time saying, ‘You’re a lot older than I thought.’ Like, f*** off! I’m 64!”
