Earlier this month, we reported that Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi had allegedly backtracked on fleeing America for England and were plotting a return to the U.S. This came months after they fled the country due to the second presidential victory of Donald Trump.

Now, insiders are saying that de Rossi in particular has struggled to adapt to life in the United Kingdom. Indeed, the former Arrested Development actress appears to have realized that fleeing America was a big mistake.

de Rossi ‘Has Not Adapted Well’

It’s been just over a year since DeGeneres, 67, and de Rossi, 52, fled America over Trump’s presidential win. They soon settled in a remote English village that is located 100 miles from London.

“It was a great idea at the time that got them away from Trump’s America and provided Ellen a refuge to carefully plot her comeback without the noise or pressure in LA,” a source close to the couple told Globe Magazine. “But the day-to-day reality of life in the rainy countryside has gotten increasingly boring and frustrating for both of them.”

The insider went on to say that de Rossi in particular “has not adapted well. The weather doesn’t agree with her. And she’s got very little to do except take long walks in the freezing cold or sit around the house while Ellen’s locked in Zoom calls or brainstorming a strategy for her eventual comeback attempt.”

DeGeneres Desperate For Hollywood Comeback

As for DeGeneres, she’s reportedly still struggling to come to terms with becoming a Hollywood pariah. This came after her toxic workplace scandal exploded in 2020. At the time, dozens of current and former employees came forward to accuse DeGeneres of presiding over a toxic work environment that was rampant with bullying, sexism, racism, and more.

Prior to that, DeGeneres had been widely known as the Queen of Nice. She even ended each episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show by urging her viewers to “be kind to one another.” Nearly overnight, however, DeGeneres became relabeled as the Queen of Mean. Unfortunately for her, this moniker has stuck with her to this day. Some have even gone so far as to describe DeGeneres as “America’s most hated woman.”

Despite this, DeGeneres is reportedly more desperate than ever to win back her fans. After a year abroad, DeGeneres has finally realized that if she has any hope of doing that, she has to return to Hollywood.

“Ellen is realizing it’s hard to close deals or hold meaningful creative meetings from across the pond,” another friend of the couple’s told Radar Online. “Zoom can only do so much, and L.A. thrives on face-to-face interaction.”

“Ellen is desperate for a fully-fledged showbiz comeback,” the friend added. “Whether that means a sitcom, comedy specials, or producing, she is up for anything at this point. And Portia wants to re-engage with the world. Both of them are craving a life that’s more than rainy pastures, cow muck, and chickens.”

DeGeneres, de Rossi Miss A-List Friends

DeGeneres and de Rossi reportedly also desperately miss their A-list pals. Much to their dismay, very few of their famous friends have actually made the trip to England to see their new rural home.

“They figured friends would be flying in constantly,” the friend concluded. “But it’s the Cotswolds – beautiful, sure, but it’s hardly a quick hop from Malibu, and they have been left feeling pretty abandoned by their old circles.”

On top of that, DeGeneres and de Rossi are reportedly worried about the multi-million dollar real estate empire that they’ve built up in California.

“They agree it’s time to head back and take care of a lot of business that’s stacked up — especially Ellen’s real estate empire,” the initial source concluded. “There is a worry that they’ll just fall into the same busy pattern and gradually get just as bored back on U.S. soil, but at least they’ll be in familiar territory.”

DeGeneres’ Previous Comments

DeGeneres was previously singing a very different tune when it came to this move. When asked by a reporter back in July if she’d moved to the U.K. because of Trump, Degeneres immediately replied “Yes.”

“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in,'” DeGeneres said. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.'”

Not stopping there, DeGeneres then claimed that they were loving their new life in rural England.

“It’s absolutely beautiful,” she alleged. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.

“It’s clean,” DeGeneres added. “Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”

Oh, how times have changed, right Ellen?

What’s happened to DeGeneres and de Rossi over the past year should serve as a cautionary tale to liberals everywhere. Indeed, liberal elites like DeGeneres and de Rossi love to complain about America. As soon as they move abroad, however, they quickly learn just how good they always had it in the United States.

Here’s hoping that if DeGeneres and de Rossi follow through with crawling back to America, they’re a little more appreciative of everything this great country has to offer. If they aren’t willing to come back with some new attitudes about America, perhaps they should just stay in England after all.

Only time will tell how all of this goes for these two!
