It’s been over a year since Ellen DeGeneres fled America. She then moved to rural England with her former Arrested Development star wife Portia de Rossi. They made this move in response to Donald Trump winning his second presidential election in the U.S.
Last month, we reported that DeGeneres, 67, and de Rossi, 52, had allegedly backtracked on fleeing America for England. Indeed, they have allegedly been plotting a return to the United States.
Now, DeGeneres is speaking out to reveal her fury over the death of Renee Nicole Good. She was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota earlier this month.
“I’m so sad, and so angry, and so worried,” DeGeneres wrote in the caption of an Instagram post on Saturday.
DeGeneres went on to copy and paste Becca Good’s full statement about the death of her wife.
Social Media Hits Back At DeGeneres
Unfortunately for DeGeneres, however, this post is already causing problems for her in a big way. Indeed, many are taking to the comments section to roast DeGeneres over it, saying that her post lacks context.
“Moral of [the] story, don’t hit a federal agent with your car, and you won’t get shot,” one social media user commented.
“If you watch the entire 3-minute video, Nicole purposely blocked and taunted law enforcement several times,” another social media user added. “Using her car to block the police, honking, and oddly dancing in her seat. She did everything she could to provoke.”
Other social media users accused DeGeneres of hypocrisy when it comes to politics.
“ICE is doing the same thing it did when Obama was in office, but you supported it then,” one person commented. “You don’t know just because you don’t like the one currently in charge. You’re just spreading hate and confusion!”
Meanwhile, other online commentators called out DeGeneres for speaking out about Good’s death but staying silent about the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The 31 year-old rightwing figure was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah when he was fatally shot in September.
“WHERE IS THE POST FOR CHARLIE KIRK?” one user asked. Another agreed, questioning, “Did Charlie Kirk’s assassination make you sad and angry too?”
DeGeneres Comes Crawling Back To America
DeGeneres and de Rossi fled America in November of 2024 because Trump’s second presidential victory. They then settled in rural England, defiantly saying at the time that they would be “staying” there.
“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in,’” DeGeneres said at a July event in England. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’”
However, all it took was one cold British winter to send DeGeneres and de Rossi crawling back to Southern California.
Last month, an insider claimed that “the day-to-day reality of life in the rainy countryside has gotten increasingly boring and frustrating for both of them.”
“Portia’s restless,” the insider explained. “The weather doesn’t agree with her and she’s got very little to do except take long walks in the freezing cold or sit around the house while Ellen’s locked in Zoom calls or brainstorming strategy for her eventual comeback attempt.”
Making matters even worse, very few of DeGeneres and de Rossi’s famous friends from Hollywood have come across the pond to visit them. This has left them feeling more irrelevant than ever.
“Both of them are in agreement that it’s time to head back,” the source concluded.
DeGeneres Buys California Mansion
Last week, we reported that DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased a home in Montecito, California for $27.4 million. This indicated to many that their permanent return to America might be in the process of happening at this very moment.
DeGeneres’ latest comments about what happened in Minneapolis show an eagerness to reinsert herself into American society and politics. In the end, it appears that DeGeneres learned the hard way that life outside of America wasn’t all that she thought it would be.
Here’s hoping that DeGeneres will be a little more appreciative of everything our country has to offer moving forward, but we won’t be holding our breath for that!
