Back in November, we reported that the comedian Ellen DeGeneres had fled America and moved across the world to the United Kingdom. Since then, DeGeneres has been laying low in her new home with her actress wife Portia de Rossi of Arrested Development fame.

Now, DeGeneres has gotten some bad news. Indeed, she’s been accused of being “creepy” and “mean” by her fellow comedian Margaret Cho.

Cho Torches DeGeneres

While appearing on The Kelly Mantle Show podcast, Cho, 56, opened up about her history with DeGeneres, 67. Unfortunately for DeGeneres, however, Cho didn’t mince any words when it came to how she feels about her.

“Ellen was like really weird and not nice to me for most of my career,” Cho began.

“I opened for her in the 1980s when she was a headliner in comedy clubs and not – way, way before her big fame,” she continued. “So then, when I would do later, when I would do her talk show in the 2000s, she acted like we just met. And I’m like: ‘[expletive], what?’… Like, that’s weird. We go way back.”

Not stopping there, Cho branded DeGeneres’ conduct as being “creepy and weird.”

DeGeneres Was ‘So Rude’ To Cho

Cho went on to recall when the late singer David Bowie made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She alleged that “‘he was so excited that, the night before, that I had come to his show wearing this giant Chinese emperor outfit.”

“He was really thrilled about it and he talked at length about it, and she cut it out of the show, which made me so mad,” Cho recalled.

Cho claimed that the “producer, which was a really good friend of mine, had to call me and tell me: ‘I can’t believe she did this but she cut it out of the show, but you need to know that he was going on and on about your outfit. He loves you. God said your name.'”

Cho believes that it was “so rude” of DeGeneres to delete this footage.

“I don’t know if it was personal,” she added. “Maybe it was for time. But still, I’m gonna take it personally, just ‘cause I decided to.”

DeGeneres’ Toxic Workplace Scandal

DeGeneres was known as “The Queen of Nice” for decades. That all changed in 2020, when her toxic workplace scandal exploded. Indeed, DeGeneres was accused of presiding over a workplace at her talk show that was full of racism, sexism, and bullying. It was even alleged that her own staffers were told to never make eye contact with DeGeneres.

“It’s so weird now, [the] public perception of her is more true to … she’s mean,” Cho stated. “She was like a mean girl, kind of, but also she would be real nice.”

“I think she always had negative feelings toward me because her girlfriends and wives always liked me. … There’s a kind of woman [who] loves a female comic,” she concluded. “But yeah, Ellen was really weird, and not nice to me for most of my career.”

DeGeneres Flees America

DeGeneres has lamented that she was “kicked out of show business” for being “mean.”

“The hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news,” DeGeneres said last year. “The ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline.”

This is partly why DeGeneres decided to flee America and move to England.

“Ellen really felt she had made her mark on the industry, but that was diminished when she was cancelled over her alleged treatment of her staff,” a source told Daily Mail back in November. “Then to have celebrities call her out one by one was so hurtful.”

The insider went on to say that the “all the ill will towards” DeGeneres in America partly led to her decision to leave.

“She has the one person that still loves her, Portia, and she is ready to leave everyone who in her mind left her hanging out to dry. If she considers it her retirement, so be it,” the source said. “An enormous part of the US doesn’t like her because of her sexual preferences, and others were turned off by her persona, which some perceived to be fake in the wake of the work place allegations.”

“For Ellen, it’s easier to move away from her problems than to confront them,” the insider concluded. “It seems like a sad end to what she once was in people’s minds.”

Cho’s latest comments will certainly do nothing to help DeGeneres’ reputation in the states. In the end, it doesn’t seem like DeGeneres will be coming back to America anytime soon!
