Ellen DeGeneres fled America and moved to rural England because of Donald Trump’s second presidential victory, reportedly banned the chef Gordon Ramsay from her talk show after he branded her cooking as being “disgusting.”

DeGeneres Allegedly Bans Ramsay

A former staffer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show claimed to Cracked that DeGeneres, 68, banned Ramsay, 59, from her show after he slammed her cooking as “rubbish” during a 2010 appearance on the program.

“(Ramsay) gave her some quip. They were doing a food test together, and Ellen offered him a sample first,” the unnamed cameraman alleged. “As soon as he bit in, he was like, ‘This is rubbish. This is disgusting.”

“She didn’t like the reaction,” the former crew member continued. “It was like eight seasons he didn’t come back for after.”

The former staffer went on to give another of DeGeneres allegedly banning a guest over a seemingly innocent comment.

“(One show) Ellen came out, and she was on a unicycle,” the cameraman said. “The anchor made a comment like ‘Don’t fall!’ and Ellen said something along the lines of, ‘No, I won’t.’”

“She told one of her EPs, ‘Don’t let this guy on the show again,’” he added. “You were uninvited as a guest pretty easily.”

DeGeneres’ Toxic Workplace Scandal

This all ended up catching up with DeGeneres in July of 2020. Indeed, it was then that ten current and former staffers came forward to accuse her of fostering a culture of “racism, fear and intimidation” on her talk show set. According to them, staffers were told to not even make eye contact with DeGeneres while working on her show.

This was particularly damning for DeGeneres, who was known as the “queen of nice” before these staffers came forward. She would even end every episode of her talk show by telling her viewers to “be kind to one another.”

The scandal that ensued from these revelations resulted in DeGeneres looking like a complete hypocrite, and it got her publicly canceled. It also got her rebranded as the “queen of mean.” In the wake of this controversy, some even went so far as to describe DeGeneres as being “America’s most hated woman.”

DeGeneres Flees America

The Ellen DeGeneres Show managed to last until 2022, when it finally went off the air after 19 seasons. DeGeneres and her wife, the Arrested Development star Portia de Rossi, later fled America and moved to rural England because of the second presidential victory of President Trump.

“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in,’” DeGeneres said at an event in England in July of 2025. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’”

DeGeneres went on to gush over her new life in the United Kingdom.

“We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life,” she said at the time. “We love it here. Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”

DeGeneres Desperate For Hollywood Comeback

However, insiders have since claimed that DeGeneres has grown tired of England. According to these sources, DeGeneres is now desperate for a Hollywood comeback.

“Ellen is realizing it’s hard to close deals or hold meaningful creative meetings from across the pond,” an insider previously told Radar Online. “Zoom can only do so much, and L.A. thrives on face-to-face interaction.”

“Ellen is desperate for a fully-fledged showbiz comeback,” the source added. “Whether that means a sitcom, comedy specials, or producing, she is up for anything at this point. And Portia wants to re-engage with the world. Both of them are craving a life that’s more than rainy pastures, cow muck, and chickens.”

Earlier this year, another insider alleged that DeGeneres “misses Hollywood.”

“During her talk show heyday, Ellen was treated like royalty,” said a source. This insider went on to claim that both DeGeneres and de Rossi had “a real effect” on popular culture.

“They used her show to make YouTubers they liked super-famous and the cultural feedback from them made them incredibly powerful,” the source continued.

If DeGeneres really wanted her Hollywood career to last, perhaps she should have treated her own staffers and guests like Ramsay a little better. In the end, this serves as a reminder that karma is very real. What goes around comes around, and DeGeneres’ own behavior came back to bite her big time.

Good riddance, Ellen DeGeneres!
