Fans were stunned last month when we reported that the British Austin Powers star Elizabeth Hurley had confirmed that she is dating the country music star Billy Ray Cyrus. Now, Hurley is speaking out to gush over the romance as she reveals what makes it work.
Hurley Gushes Over Cyrus
Hurley, 59, opened up about her new relationship with Cyrus, 63, while walking the red carpet at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s 2025 Hot Pink Party on Tuesday night. There, she explained that while fans were surprised by her relationship with Cyrus, she wasn’t at all. In fact, what makes Hurley’s relationship with Cyrus work in her eyes is the fact that they’re “quite similar” to one another.
“I think people found Billy and I being together a little surprising,” Hurley told Page Six. “It’s not surprising to me because we’re actually quite similar and get on extremely well.”
Hurley went on to admit that “there has been quite a reaction” to their romance. She then revealed what exactly she and Cyrus have in common.
“We both like to laugh a lot, and we both love the country,” she stated. “And we both love country music, both love movies. We’ve got a lot in common — and cowboy boots, definitely.”

Cyrus Praises Hurley After They Go Public
Hurley and Cyrus revealed their relationship to the world on Easter Sunday. Hurley shared a photo of the two of them kissing while Cyrus wore bunny ears for the holiday.
“Happy Easter ♥️,” Hurley captioned that Instagram post.
Cyrus has since spoken out to say that he sees this relationship as being a gift from God.
“It’s just been beautiful,” Cyrus said last month. He proceeded to say that there are “no expectations of where we go from here other than her and her son. I do love him a lot, and it’s great that God brought them into my life when he did. It’s just a good thing.”
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been this happy,” he continued.

Hurley And Cyrus’ History
Hurley and Cyrus first met when they appeared together in the 2022 movie Christmas in Paradise. Though they hit it off on set, they lost touch once filming ended. However, they recently reconnected when Hurley texted Cyrus out of the blue. At the time, Cyrus was in the midst of a bitter divorce from his third wife, the singer Firerose.
“I felt like, ‘Wow, can life get any harder? Can it get any tougher?’ For me, at a certain point, it was like, ‘You can’t get knocked down any flatter than laying on your back when life is kicking you,’” Cyrus recalled. “And, in this moment, this hand kind of reached out in a text message, not a physical hand, as in the one you saw in the picture. That’d be good. A friend reached out.”
Cyrus initially “didn’t even know the number” of the person texting him. The message that he got read something like, “Hey, it looks like life might be a little bit tough and just wanted you to know I’m in your corner; you’ve got a friend in your corner.”
“So, I text back, I go, ‘Who is this?’ And it’s like, ‘Elizabeth Hurley.’ Of all the people to reach out to me in that second that maybe I needed most,” Cyrus recounted. “This friend that made me laugh.”

Hurley Loves Cyrus’ Tennessee Ranch
Last month, a source close to the couple told People Magazine that Hurley was loving spending time on Cyrus’ Tennessee ranch.
“Liz’s glam, but fits in perfectly in Tennessee too,” the insider said at the time. “She spent several days visiting Billy Ray. He loves having her around. She loves his music. And he loves the attention she gives him.”
