Earlier this week, we reported that the legendary former Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson had passed away at the age of 79 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Now, Phil’s powerfully touching final words have been revealed by his son Willie.

Willie Pays Tribute To His Father

Phil’s death was announced on Sunday by Willie’s wife Korie. After taking some time to gather his thoughts, Willie took to Instagram two days later to honor his father and reveal his final words to the world.

“I remember Phil’s many prayers on Memorial Day and all the times with my dad. I don’t have enough words to tell of all of it, perhaps it will take months or years of remembering,” began Willie, 53. “Looking back at pics I noticed he was always looking at me funny, [probably] trying to figure out, ‘How did this boy turn out like this?’”

Willie went on to recall break dancing for his father when he was a small child. Just before Phil died, Willie decided to break dance for his dad one more time.

“Right at the very end of his life I came into his room… I did another dance, in a much weaker voice he simply said, ‘Will, you got moves I didn’t know you had,'” he recounted. “Not sure why I was always dancing in front of Phil. Maybe I figured it was the last thing he would think I would do, so I just did it.”

Willie then touched on how the strong Christian faith that he and Phil shared brought them even closer together.

“Most importantly, he taught me the value of sharing my faith with others,” Willie stated. “He was the Real Deal, the same on Sundays as Fridays. Most of our conversations were not about hunting or business, but about sharing the Gospel.”

Phil’s Final Words

Willie proceeded to reveal the touching final words that Phil spoke to him just before he died.

“The last words he said to me as I leaned down over his weakened body was ‘You’re my brother’. It made total sense to me,” Willie confessed. “He always told me we were coworkers in the Kingdom of God. Maybe that’s why I always just called him Phil. Not sure if he is up in Heaven now doing his own dance moves for our Father.”

Willie concluded his post with a message directly to his father.

“Phil, I love you and already miss you,” Willie wrote. “Thank you for raising me the right way and teaching me the most important lesson to prepare me for the day you passed on. Not sure how people deal with loss without the Lord. We may be wrong about all this….but I doubt it! Sleep well Dad, can’t wait to see you.”

This came after Willie’s daughter Sadie Robertson Huff, 27, revealed the final words that Phil spoke to her.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV,” Sadie wrote on Instagram. “As I was sitting with Papaw Phil today, I thought about this verse… he has already experienced this on earth—going from dead to alive by the power of Christ!”

“One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!” she added.

Phil’s Alzheimer’s Battle

In December of 2023, the Robertson family made the sad announcement that Phil had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Sadly, it appeared that the disease was moving fast.

“It’s causing problems with his entire body,” Phil’s son Jase said at the time. “He’s just not doing well. He’s really struggling.”

Just two days before Phil died, Willie gave fans an update on his father’s health. He told Christian Post that because of his poor health, Phil will not be appearing on the Robertson family’s upcoming A&E reality show Duck Dynasty: The Revival. That program is set to air this summer.

“He was unable to film,” Willie explained. “He’s not great. Alzheimer’s is kind of a cruel situation to go through. But there are glimpses we have, some good times and some moments with him, but it certainly has progressed. “

“We feel good about the life he’s lived, and he certainly does as well, and just the impact,” he continued. “Such a powerful voice. He did everything I think God wanted him to do on this Earth and he’ll be ready to move on, for sure.”

Phil was a true legend, and there will never be another one like him. While he will be dearly missed, we can all find comfort in knowing that he’s with God now.

Please join us in saying a prayer for the entire Robertson family as they mourn this devastating loss.
