Yesterday, we reported that the legendary former Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson had passed away at the age of 79 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Now, Phil’s final moments have been revealed by his beloved granddaughter Sadie Robertson Huff.

Phil’s Final Moments

Hours after Phil passed away on Sunday, Sadie took to Instagram to reveal that she was by her grandfather’s bedside in his final hours.

Sadie began by quoting a biblical verse:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“As I was sitting with Papaw Phil today, I thought about this verse… he has already experienced this on earth—going from dead to alive by the power of Christ!” wrote Sadie, 27.

“It was his testimony that changed his life, our families life, and thousands of others. Now he is experiencing it in the fullness. Fully alive in Christ. The new has come,” she continued. “One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!

Meanwhile, Sadie wrote this powerful post alongside a series of photos of herself with her grandfather over the years. It can’t be denied that Phil’s was indeed a life well lived!

Phil’s Unwavering Christian Faith

Sadie later returned to Instagram the next day to post an old video of Phil in which he talked about his strong Christian faith.

In the video, he talked about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Phil believed that if Jesus could be resurrected, he could be too. He also expressed his belief that Jesus rules the kingdom of Heaven. It’s clear that Phil knew that if he wasn’t resurrected, he’d be heading to Heaven himself when he died.

“This is it right here,” Sadie said of the clip. She then thanked fans for all the support that she got on her original post.

“I wrote in my post yesterday that he touched ‘thousands,’ and I can confidently correct that now to millions,” Sadie gushed. “I can’t stop thinking about how he lived in the middle of nowhere, in a small, humble home with no cell phone or computer, and yet his life touched millions with the hope of Jesus.”

“He reminds me of people in the Bible,” she added. “Not many lived with the end goal in mind as much as he did, and not many chose to spend their lives telling everyone they encountered like he did. He really believed it, and I know that he is alive in Christ fully today!”

“What a life of authenticity,” Sadie concluded. “What a legend.”

A true legend indeed!

Phil’s Death

Phil’s death was announced on Sunday night by Sadie’s mother Korie Robertson. She’s been married to Phil’s son Willie for 33 years.

“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” Korie wrote on Instagram. “He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’”

“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus,” she continued. “We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”

Phil’s Alzheimer’s Battle

In December of 2023, the Robertson family made the sad announcement that Phil had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Sadly, it appeared that the disease was moving fast.

“It’s causing problems with his entire body,” Phil’s son Jase said at the time. “He’s just not doing well. He’s really struggling.”

Just two days before Phil died, his son Willie gave fans an update on his father’s health. Willie, who is married to Korie, told Christian Post that because of his poor health, Phil will not be appearing on the upcoming A&E reality show Duck Dynasty: The Revival. The show is set to air this summer.

“He was unable to film,” Willie explained. “He’s not great. Alzheimer’s is kind of a cruel situation to go through. But there are glimpses we have, some good times and some moments with him, but it certainly has progressed. “

“We feel good about the life he’s lived, and he certainly does as well, and just the impact,” he added. “Such a powerful voice. He did everything I think God wanted him to do on this Earth and he’ll be ready to move on, for sure.”

Phil was indeed a true legend, and there will never be another one like him. Please join us in saying a prayer for the entire Robertson family as they mourn this incredible man!
