The Boston Blue star Donnie Wahlberg is opening up about his journey “to connect with Jesus” after going through a dark time in his life.

Donnie Turns To Jesus After Feeling ‘Broken’

While appearing on The George Janko Show podcast, Donnie, 56, talked about a difficult time that he had in his life recently. He admitted that despite his high level of fame, he found himself feeling unfulfilled in his Hollywood career.

“People in this industry are broken,” Donnie confessed. “I’m realizing in this last year. I’m broken, too.”

Donnie eventually got to a point where he felt “empty” inside. Indeed, he felt like he was “missing something” in his life. Finally, he decided it was time to make some changes. In order to do this, he opened up to his beloved wife Jenny McCarthy, letting her know what he had been going through.

“I sat down my wife one morning,” Donnie recalled. “I said, ‘I have to connect with Jesus, I have to give my life to Him now.’ And she was like, ‘Of course.’”

“My wife is perfect,”he gushed. “I couldn’t ask for anything more from her. And I’m still lonely. And it’s Jesus. It’s Him. It’s me letting Him in all the way. Like, being renewed in Him and fully surrendering. I couldn’t do it. And I thought I was.”

Donnie And Jenny Pray Together

These days, Donnie and Jenny, who have been married since 2014, pray together daily. This has helped Donnie to connect to his faith in a way that he never has before.

“It’s really in the last year that I really have committed myself on a deeper level,” Donnie stated.

Donnie went on to say that just because he has experienced this spiritual reset, it doesn’t mean it’s completely changed who he is.

“It doesn’t make me not me,” Donnie explained. It makes me a better me.”

Donny concluded by saying that he is eager to use his platform to “let my light shine… to glorify Him.”

This comes after Donnie’s wife Jenny, 53, revealed back in December that she has “completely surrendered” to God.

“Some people have to work really hard to hear Him,” Jenny, who was raised Catholic, said while appearing on the “Culture Apothecary” podcast. “I’ve got a direct line. I mean, Jesus is my homie.”

Jenny then revealed that this has led her to embrace more “conservative values.” These include “questioning authority, less government control, [being] closer to God.”

Mark Wahlberg’s Christian Faith

Donnie’s younger brother Mark Wahlberg, 54, has also long been open about his strong Christian faith.

“I credit all of my personal and professional success to my faith,” Mark told Christian Headlines last year. “And also dealing with all the difficulties in life, all the unexpected things that come your way constantly, especially if you’re lucky enough to get older — you experience a lot of death, a lot of suffering, a lot of loss.”

“In all of those things, I’m able to deal with those because I get great comfort from my faith,” he continued. “And so I just want to share that with people. People always want to know, ‘What do you credit your success to?’ And that is at the forefront of everything.”

In the crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find celebrities who are so open about their strong Christian faith. God bless Donnie, Jenny, and Mark for using their respective platforms to spread the word of the Lord. If only more stars would do the same!
