Earlier this week, we reported that Freida Parton, the younger sister of Dolly Parton, was begging fans to pray for the country music legend as she battles unspecified “health challenges.” This led fans to panic, as they were terrified that Dolly might be near death.

Days later, Dolly herself spoke out to let her fans know that she’s doing alright and is “not ready to die yet.” Now, an update about Dolly has come in as she continues to focus on her health.

‘Dolly Is Getting Better Every Day…’

“Dolly is getting better every day,” a source close to Dolly, 79, told People Magazine.

“She is at home taking care of herself while many friends and family visit her,” the insider added. “In true Dolly spirit she has already started decorating for the holidays — her favorite time of year.”

This comes after Dolly postponed her Las Vegas residency from December of this year to September of 2026. Days before that, Dolly canceled a public appearance due to a kidney stone-related infection.

On October 8, Dolly took to Instagram to post a video in which she tried to assure her fans that she’s doing well.

“Lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick?” Dolly said in the video. “I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of. So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this. We need to take care of that.’ Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home. But I wanted you to know that I’m not dying.”

“But anyway, there’s just a lot of rumors flying around, but I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was okay,” she concluded. “So anyhow, that’s what I wanted to say, and I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done working. I love you for caring and keep praying for me.”

Dolly Is ‘Just Getting Started’

Dolly is just two months away from turning 80. Despite both this and her health challenges, she has no plans to slow down.

“People say, ‘Well, you’re going to be 80 years old.’ Well, so what? Look at all I’ve done in 80 years. I feel like I’m just getting started,” Parton herself said this week. “I know that sounds stupid, but unless my health gives way, which right now I seem to be doing fine, I think there’s a lot to be said about age. If you allow yourself to get old, you will. I say, ‘I ain’t got time to get old!’ I ain’t got time to dwell on that. That’s not what I’m thinking about.”

“I’m at that point in my life where I just want to be able to do good things that can be carried on,” she continued. “I’m proud of my legacy so far, and I hope to just continue to do things that might be of use to other people.”

We’re glad to see that Dolly is taking the time to focus on her health. In the end, we want Dolly to stick around for many years to come, so her health should always come first.

God bless you, Dolly Parton!
