Last week, we reported that the country music legend Dolly Parton was forced to postpone her Las Vegas residency by nearly a year due to unspecified “health challenges.” Now, Dolly’s sister Freida is speaking out to beg fans to pray for the country music legend.
‘Pray With Me…’
Freida, 68, took to Facebook on Tuesday to issue this prayer plea for Dolly, 79.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
“She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine,” Freida continued. “Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
Dolly Postpones Las Vegas Residency
This came after Dolly took to Instagram on September 28 to reveal that because of her health struggles, she will be postponing her Las Vegas residency by nearly a year.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” Dolly wrote. “As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
“In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see,” the legendary “Jolene” singer added. “You see good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
Dolly went on to assure her devoted fans that she won’t be retiring from performing.
“And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” Dolly concluded. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”
Dolly had been scheduled to perform a limited engagement at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas starting in December. However, these dates have now been pushed all the way back to September of 2026.
Dolly Misses Dollywood Appearance
This announcement came days after Dolly missed an appearance at Dollywood on September 17. Instead, Parton sent a video message in which she explained her absence.
“Hello Dollywood! It’s me,” Dolly told the attendees in a pre-recorded video. “I know – and I’m here, and you’re there. And you’re wondering why that is? Well, I had a little problem.”
“I had a kidney stone that was causing me a lot of problems, turned out it’d given me an infection, and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better,’” she continued.
“So, he suggested I not go to Dollywood today, but I’m there with you in spirit,” Dolly concluded. “I was looking so forward to it.”

It’s no secret that 2025 has been a difficult year for Dolly. Indeed, she lost her beloved husband Carl Dean back in March when he passed away at the age of 82. The couple had been married for nearly 60 years, as they tied the knot in 1966.
Freida is one of Dolly’s eleven siblings, seven of whom are still living. Like Dolly, Freida is a singer and songwriter in the world of country music.
We can only imagine that Freida wouldn’t be asking fans to pray for her legendary older sister if Dolly truly didn’t need them too right now. Please join us in saying a prayer for Dolly Parton!
