Yesterday, we reported that the country music star Jelly Roll had filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie XO after nearly ten years of marriage. Now, the disturbing truth behind their split is slowly coming out.

Jelly And Bunnie’s ‘Complicated’ History

Jelly, 41, filed for divorce from Bunnie, 46, on May 18. He cited irreconcilable differences at the time, and noted May 9 as their date of separation.

A source close to Jelly told People Magazine that the country music star and Bunnie have “always had a complicated dynamic” going back to when the very beginning of their relationship.

When they first met almost a decade ago, Jelly was struggling financially, and Bunnie was making a living as a sex worker in Las Vegas. According to Daily Mail, “she was making upwards of $100,000 a night as a ‘high class’ escort.”

Jelly and Bunnie were platonic friends for an extended period of time before things got romantic in 2016.

“When they first got together, they were both in a very different place in their lives,” the insider explained. “There was a lot of chaos, ups and downs, and they built a life together through all of that.”

The source went on to admit that Jelly, who has lost nearly 300 pounds over the past few years, has “changed a lot.”

“He’s very focused on his future, his health and being around for a long time,” the insider continued. “There wasn’t a moment where everything fell apart. They still love each other but were no longer on the same page about certain things, including what they wanted their future to look like. People saw the public side of things, but there was a lot more going on privately.”

Even those closest to Jelly were reportedly shocked by the news of this split.

“You couldn’t tell he was going through something,” said one source connected to Jelly. “If the divorce was on his mind, you’d never have known.”

Jelly And Bunnie’s IVF Battle

Though Jelly and Bunnie had no children together, she was known to be a devoted stepmother to his two children from previous relationships: daughter Bailee Ann,18, and son Noah Buddy, nine.

Jelly and Bunnie had long been open about their desire to have a child together. Just six months before their split, they were undergoing IVF treatments in the hopes of welcoming twin babies. In her memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, Bunnie opened up about her fears that the abortions that she had in her younger days, including one when she was just 16, jeopardized her ability to carry a child.

“I genuinely think that having those abortions when I was younger, the journey that I’m going on now with IVF, God’s putting me through this again so that I can be a voice for those women who are going through this process,” Bunnie told People in January.

“And it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through,” she added of IVF. “It’s been rough. It has not been easy, but I know that God has a plan and he’s going to make it work. I really do. I have no doubt in my mind.”

Jelly Thanks Bunnie At Grammys

Jelly and Bunnie still appeared to be going strong in February of this year at the Grammy Awards. That night, Jelly became emotional as he thanked Bunnie XO for her love and support after he won the won Best Contemporary Country Album award.

“I want to thank my beautiful wife,” he said in his acceptance speech. “I would have never changed my life without you.”

Jelly Roll went on to say that he “would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”

Check out that full speech in the video below.

To many fans, Jelly and Bunnie seemed to represent one of the few entertainment marriages that might actually make it. This just goes to show that you never really know what a couple is going through behind the scenes.

Please join us in saying a prayer for both Jelly and Bunnie as they navigate this new chapter of their lives.
