The Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke is preparing to turn 99 on Friday, December 13. In preparation for this, Van Dyke is speaking out to say that he is “not afraid” of death.

Van Dyke’s New Video

Van Dyke, 98, just appeared in the new music video for Coldplay’s song “All My Love.” While the song wasn’t specifically written about Van Dyke, the music video became a look back at his decades-long Hollywood career.

The music video was filmed at Van Dyke’s home in Malibu, California. It includes footage of Van Dyke’s many accolades and awards. It also shows Van Dyke with his family, as well as emotional moments of reflection.

“I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now, but I don’t know why, it doesn’t concern me, I’m not afraid of it,” Van Dyke said in the video. “I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be alright.”

“I think I’m one of those lucky people who got to do for a living what I would have done anyway,” he continued. “When you think how lucky I am — I got to do what I do, play and act silly.”

At one point in the video, Van Dyke begins to dance, recreating his iconic moves from Mary Poppins, The Dick Van Dyke Show and more.

Later in the video, Van Dyke tells Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin that his favorite lyric from “All My Love” is “Until I die, let me hold you if you cry.”

“So beautiful,” Van Dyke gushed.

Joining Van Dyke in this video was his 53 year-old wife, makeup artist Arlene Silver. They’ve been married since 2012. Van Dyke was also joined by his children and grandchildren.

Music Video Goes Viral

The music video has quickly gone viral, garnering over three million views in just three days.

“This made me cry with joy. I wish the world had a billion more like him,” one fan commented on the video.

“In a world plagued with confusion and uncertainty and war, and just plain craziness,” another added. “These few minutes are a reminder of love, family, friendship, and music and dancing. A reminder that however old we become, we all begin the same way. I know I’ll come back to watch this, again and again.”

“I’m not exaggerating when I say that this was one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time,” a third social media user commented. A fourth wrote, “This is what the internet was DESIGNED FOR!!! Finally some redeeming value!!!”
