Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher starred together on the beloved television show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 until it went off the air in 1997. During that time, rumors ran rampant alleging that Cain and Hatcher frequently feuded on the set of the show.

Now, Cain has seemingly added credence to these rumors by publicly slamming Hatcher in a new interview.

Cain Sounds Off On Hatcher

While appearing on the Inside of You podcast, Cain, 58, initially praised Hatcher, 60, calling her “the best Lois Lane of all time.” However, though he said that sometimes working with her was “the greatest thing in the world,” he added that other times, it was “a lot more difficult.”

Cain, who played Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent on the show, admitted that when he first met Hatcher, he was initially taken aback by her.

“[After I was cast, we had a chemistry read]. The last one they said was Teri. They go, ‘Teri wants you to go and run lines with her,'” Cain recalled.

“No other girl had asked me to run lines,” he continued. “She’s in this room and she goes, ‘You don’t like me, do you? We were at the network together. You never talked to me. You didn’t say hi to me.'”

Cain remembers firing back at her by saying, “You didn’t say hi to me either. I was just trying to get a job. They never paired us up. I had no reason to talk to you.”

“But that right there was the relationship between Lois and Clark,” Cain pointed out. “Lois drove the series and that was her.”

Cain And Hatcher Stopped Speaking To Each Other

Cain went on to acknowledge that he and Hatcher didn’t speak for a “short” time during filming. However, he also claimed that they “didn’t have a big [falling-out].”

Cain explained that there were times when he and Hatcher had “great chemistry.” During these periods, working together “was just the easiest thing in the world.”

“Other times, I just wanted to finish and go home,” he confessed. “I almost feel like she didn’t.”

“There were times where I felt like, ‘I don’t think she wants to go home because she’s worried about this one little thing that has nothing to do with what we’re doing. And that’s slowing us down for two-and-a-half hours,'” Cain lamented. “I’m a team guy. I’m real simple. Plug me in and let’s go. I’m here to get this done as fast as we can.”

Cain And Hatcher Settle Feud

Now that it’s been 28 years since Lois & Clark went off the air, Cain and Hatcher thankfully appear to have put their feud behind them. Indeed, Cain claimed that they are “still very friendly” to this day. He even described Hatcher as being “an icon.”

“Overall, it was amazing. Incredible,” Cain concluded. “What a way to start a career, what a way to learn what doing a one-hour series is like.”

Lois & Clark was a massive hit during the four years it was on the air. The show made both Cain and Hatcher household names, and they each went on to great success.

While it’s sad to learn that working together was “difficult” at times, we’re glad to see that Cain and Hatcher were eventually able to put their feud behind them. Given the vast number of Hollywood feuds that are handled poorly, we applaud Cain and Hatcher for seemingly managing their on-set tensions like adults. If only more Hollywood stars could do the same!
