The country music star Zach Bryan has issued an apology after upsetting some fans of Taylor Swift by saying that he prefers Kanye West over her.

Bryan Posts ‘Kanye > Taylor’

It all started on Tuesday night, when Bryan issued a simple post on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.

“eagles > chiefs,” wrote Bryan, 28. “Kanye > Taylor.”

He concluded his post by saying “who’s with me.”

Bryan’s Instagram Stories from that night featured four songs of Ye (formerly Kanye West), including “Good Life,” featuring T-Pain, “I Thought About Killing You,” “All Mine” and “Ghost Town”

Bryan Issues Apology

It didn’t take long for it to become clear to Bryan that he’d made a huge mistake. He soon deleted his entire X account, indicating that Swift’s loyal fanbase (which is known as Swifties) had fired back at him in a big way.

However, Bryan made a point of keeping his Instagram account active. There, Bryan posted a lengthy apology on Thursday morning.

“For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night,” Bryan began as he shared that he was listening to Swift’s hit song “Fortnight,” which features Post Malone. “I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.”

“I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically…I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often,” he continued. “Hope one day I can explain this to her. Twitter gets me in trouble too much and I’d say it’s best I stay off it. I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down. Love you guys and I’m trying my best!”

Bryan certainly seems sincere in his messages.

Bryan Doubles Down

Bryan went on to add in a separate post that he is “going through a hard time” in his own life.

“I think I was projecting a little,” he admitted alongside an image of Swift’s track “The Albatross.”

“To be completely honest, it just came off as rude and desensitized to Taylor,” he added. “I respect her so much as a musician that the last thing I want is people thinking I don’t appreciate and love what she has done for music. Okay, that’s the last of it! Love you guys and hope you guys understand. Don’t drink and tweet. Don’t drink and tweet!!”

Not stopping there, Bryan shifted to complimenting Swift as an artist.

“Not saving face here, but Taylor has been a force of nature for as long as we’ve all been growing up and I admire that,” Bryan wrote along with an image of Swift’s song “Castles Crumbling” featuring Hayley Williams from Fearless (Taylor’s Version). “I’m gonna go listen to this record now, I never want people to think I have a hint of malice or meanness towards anyone, ever, that’s why Im saying all this. Everyone have the best day of all time, I love ya.”

Bryan Feels ‘Very Blessed’

Bryan ended his apology posts by promising his fans that he is making an effort to “ground” himself.

“Not taking it for granted and holding onto it has been so important to me,” Bryan concluded. “Okay, needed to get this off my chest, yall are the best and I’ll see you at Bourbon and Beyond.

Bourbon and Beyond is a music festival that is set to take place in Louisville, Kentucky this coming weekend.

Whether you are a Swift fan or not, it’s clear that messing with her may not be the best idea these days. Since Bryan is being so open about going through a difficult time right now, we can only hope that Swift’s fans cut him a break and show him some grace.
