Last week, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage,” and that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 57. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Now, Kidman and Urban’s divorce appears to be taking a nasty turn. Indeed, friends of Kidman’s are speaking out to express their fears that Urban is out to “publicly embarrass” the actress.
Kidman’s Friends Terrified For Her
Those close to Kidman have seen a disturbing change in Urban over the past week. This change has been so drastic that they are afraid of what he has planned for Kidman as their divorce unfolds in the public eye.
“Keith looks as if he’s out to try to publicly embarrass and hurt Nic,” a close friend of Kidman’s told Daily Mail. “He’s always been the quieter one but now that seems to have changed.”
Insiders have claimed that Urban has met a “younger woman in the music industry.” While there’s no confirmation as to who she is, rumors are swirling that the “other woman” is Urban’s 25 year-old guitar player Maggie Baugh, who has been on tour with him over the past few months.
During a concert last week, Urban switched Kidman’s name in a song he’d written to her to Baugh’s. This move left those who had known Urban and Kidman as a couple completely stunned.
“The fact that he changed the lyrics in the song he wrote about Nic and made it a dedication to his young guitarist Maggie Baugh says so much about how he’s dealing with their separation and how he feels about Nic,” the Kidman source continued.
“This is a total 180 from the Keith I know,” the insider added. “It seems like a switch has gone off in his head to awaken this vitriol he appears to have for her.”
Kidman ‘Reliving’ Her Tom Cruise Divorce
Those close to Kidman and Urban can’t seem to figure out where his alleged vitriol for her could be coming from. As for Kidman, she was allegedly “blindsided” by the split. She’s reportedly spent months desperately trying to save her marriage, but to no avail.
“I feel so bad for Nic and what she’s going through,” said another friend of Kidman’s. “It’s like she’s reliving her split from Tom [Cruise] all over again when she was shamed in front of the world.”
Kidman married her fellow A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise in 1990 after they met the year before on the set of their movie Days of Thunder. Cruise reportedly went on to blindsided her by filing for divorce right after their tenth wedding anniversary.
“I thought our life together was perfect,” Kidman said ten years later. “It was a shock to my system. It took me a very long time to heal.”
As for Cruise, he only cryptically said, “She knows why, and I know why.”
It appears that Kidman feels like this latest split is like history repeating itself.
“She wanted to still be with Keith, but here we are,” the second source lamented. “It has been a very sad and frustrating week. With a very heavy heart she is going through all the emotions right now and realizing that it is actually over.”
Urban Has ‘Fallen Out Of Love’ With Kidman
Yet another insider close to Kidman weighed in on what Urban could be thinking right now.
“He isn’t going through a midlife crisis,” this source claimed. “[Urban] is going through changes in his personal and professional life, and they just happen to be happening all at once. He is just going through a rough patch, and this will eventually pass, and he will make it on the other side.”
This insider concluded by saying that Urban has “just fallen out of love with Nicole, and the decisions that have had to be made are ones that were and are important to him, as he knows that they aren’t getting back together.”
Divorce is never easy, particularly after being together for decades. Here’s hoping that for the sake of their two teenage daughters, Kidman and Urban can keep this divorce as amicable as possible.
