Earlier this month, we reported that Clint Eastwood’s son Kyle was speaking out to claim that the Oscar-winning Hollywood legend has retired at 96 years of age. Now, Clint’s son Scott, who is now an A-list Hollywood star himself as broken his silence to address these rumors for the first time.
Is Clint Eastwood Retiring?
Clint celebrated his 96th birthday on May 31. Just before that, Kyle, 58, spoke out to say that his dad is “retired.”
“I have a lot of good memories of working with him,” Kyle said. “Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old. But I’ve been very lucky to be able to work with him on a lot of films.”
Scott, 40, just responded to his half-brother’s claims publicly for the first time. According to Scott, he’s not quite sure if Clint has retired after all.
“We’ll see. I have not heard that from his mouth at all,” Scott told ScreenRant. “So I don’t know what that feels like. His career in general has been something to admire, something to be inspired by, and continues to inspire me.”
“The work, the artistry that he’s done on and off screen,” he continued. “Producing, writing, composing, directing, acting. The body of work is incredible.”
Clint’s Previous Comments On Retirement
Clint has not directed a movie since his 2024’s critically acclaimed drama Juror #2. He has not acted onscreen since he starred in his 2021 fillm Cry Macho, which he also directed. While promoting that movie, Clint made it clear that he had no plans to retire.
“I don’t think so,” he told Parade at the time. “I’m always thinking about what I’m going to do next. I love to take someone’s idea, whether it’s a book or a play, and develop it. Maybe others want to make a few movies and then retire, and that’s fine. Maybe they have other things to do and keep busy with. I don’t. I love movies and I enjoy making them.”
However, Clint has made any comments on retiring in the five years since then.
Clint’s Hollydoow Career
Clint has been one of the most famous actors and directors in Hollywood for decades. Indeed, he has 73 acting credits and 45 directorial credits to his name, according to IMDB.
Clint won the Oscar for Best Director for his 1992 Western movie Unforgiven, which also won Best Picture. Clint was also nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for his work in that film, which was his only Academy Award nomination for acting. He ultimately lost that award to Al Pacino for his leading role in the movie Scent of a Woman.
Clint later won Best Director again at the Oscars for the 2004 film Million Dollar Baby, another movie that also won Best Picture. His final nomination came for producing his movie American Sniper, which was nominated for Best Picture in 2015. That film, which Clint directed as well, lost that award to Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).
Clint is a true living legend, and there will never be another one like him. While we will miss his movies dearly, he certainly deserves to retire at 96 if he chooses to. We wish Clint many years of health and happiness to come, whether he’s actively working or enjoying his private life.
God bless you, Clint Eastwood!
