The Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood’s past has come back to haunt him as a new biography is exposing his extramarital affairs.
In his new book Clint: The Man and The Movies, Shawn Levy explores the personal life of Eastwood, who celebrated his 95th birthday on May 31. Levy takes a deep look at Eastwood’s two marriages to wives Maggie Johnson and Dina Ruiz. He also delves into Eastwood’s longterm relationships with actresses Sondra Locke and Frances Fisher.
Eastwood has always been known as something of a womanizer. Indeed, he’s fathered eight children by six different women. However, this is the first time that anyone has exposed Eastwood’s past affairs to this extent.
Eastwood Cheats On First Wife
Eastwood was married to his first wife Johnson from 1953 until they divorced in 1984. According to Levy, Eastwood cheated on her many times throughout their decades-long marriage.
“By many accounts, including his own, he more or less comported himself as if he were a bachelor,” Levy wrote in an excerpt obtained by People Magazine. He went on to allege that Johnson was very much aware of these affairs. Eastwood’s own words appear to corroborate this.
“One thing Mag had to learn about me was that I was going to do as I pleased,” Eastwood said in a 1963 interview. “She had to accept that, because if she didn’t, we wouldn’t be married.”
“I’m independent, a vagabond, and [Johnson] accepts me as I am and doesn’t strangle me with female possessiveness,” Eastwood later added in another interview. In a separate interview with Playboy, Eastwood described Johnson as being “a woman who knows how much room I need.”
Eastwood eventually admitted to his authorized biographer Richard Schickel that his extramarital affairs “just became… I don’t know… addictive… like you have to have another cigarette.”
While still married to Johnson, Eastwood fathered a daughter named Kimber Lynn in 1964 with stuntwoman Roxanne Tunis. It should be noted that while they never married, Eastwood and Tunis always remained close through the years. Eastwood was devastated when Tunis died in 2023 at the age of 93.

Eastwood’s Relationships Post-First Divorce
Eastwood was also still married to Locke when he began a relationship with the Oscar-nominated actress Sondra Locke in 1975. Their love affair began after he cast her in his movie The Outlaw Josey Wales. Locke later claimed that when their affair began, “there was no real relationship left” between him and Johnson.
Eastwood divorced Johnson in 1984. Johnson has never spoken publicly about her marriage. Judging by the photo below, however, it appears that she and Eastwood remain on good terms to this day.
After his divorce, Eastwood continued dating Locke until they bitterly split in 1989. Locke claimed that during their affair, she had two abortions and got her tubes tied because Eastwood had told her he didn’t want more children. Eastwood always denied this allegation.
“Funny how it never even crossed my mind to ask him to have surgery,” Locke lamented. She ultimately passed away in 2018 at the age of 74 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Eastwood appears to have calmed down in his later years. He spent the early 1990s dating the actress Frances Fisher of Titanic fame. They welcomed a daughter Francesca in 1993 before splitting.
Eastwood went on to marry Dina Ruiz in 1996. Later that year, they welcomed their daughter Morgan. By all accounts, Eastwood was faithful to Ruiz during their marriage. They eventually divorced amicably in 2014.
Eastwood’s Tragic Heartbreak With Latest Girlfriend
Eastwood’s most recent relationship was with Christine Sandera. They began dating after his divorce ws finalized in 2014. The couple met when she was working as a hostess at Clint’s Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
Eastwood and Sandera made their red carpet debut together at the Academy Awards in 2015. Though they kept much of their life together private, Christina was Clint’s usual red carpet date in the subsequent years.
Eastwood and Sandera remained together for a decade. Sadly, Sandera died suddenly of a heart attack in July of last year. She was only 61 years-old.
“Christina was a lovely, caring woman,” Eastwood told The Hollywood Reporter after her death. “I will miss her very much.”
In the year since then, Eastwood has been laying relatively low. He has yet to break his silence about this new biography about his life.
It certainly seems like Eastwood learned from his past mistakes and became a better partner to the women in his life over time. Whether you support the way Eastwood approached his romantic life or not, it can’t be denied that he is a true living legend. In the end, we’d just like to wish Eastwood many years of health and happiness to come!
