Last week, we reported that the legendary Chuck Norris had died at the age of 86. Now, it’s been revealed that before his death, Norris opened up about the powerful impact that prayer had on his life.

Norris Reveals The Power Of Prayer

Back in 2021, Norris’ beloved mother Wilma Scarberry celebrated her 100th birthday. To mark the occasion, Norris opened up about how his mother saved him from losing his “soul to Hollywood” through the power of prayer.

“My mother has prayed for me all my life, through thick and thin,” Norris wrote in an article published in World Net Daily. “When I was born, I almost died from complications. When nearly losing my soul to Hollywood a few decades ago, she was back home praying for my success and salvation. She even prayed for me to find a woman to change my life, and it worked.”

Norris went on to say that his mother had always “been an example of perseverance and faith her whole life. He also up about how he lost his way for a short time during his early career as a Hollywood star.

“I’ve always maintained my faith throughout my martial arts, movie, and television careers, but there was also a time when I lost my way. As resilient as I thought I was, I swallowed the hook of the Hollywood lifestyle,” Norris previously wrote in his memoir Official Chuck Norris Fact [Joke] Book.

“Mom continued to pray for me throughout those years, and I’m convinced that’s how and why God brought Gena into my life,” he continued. This was a reference to his wife Gena O’Kelley, who he was married to for nearly 30 years at the time of his death.

“She is a beacon of God’s light and love, just as my mom is,” Norris added. “Gena brought me back to my childhood faith – in which compromise was unbecoming, transparency was a virtue, humility was required, and belief was daily practiced.”

Norris’ Journey To Finding God

Norris previously opened up about his strong Christian faith in an interview with “The 700 Club.” There, Norris revealed that the 1991 death of his close friend Lee Atwater set him on the right path religiously for the rest of his life.

Norris went to visit Atwater as the Republican political strategist was dying from a brain tumor. During their talk, Atwater urged Norris to  “trust in the Lord.”

This powerful moment brought Norris to tears, as he “was still so wrapped up in” Hollywood at the time. Indeed, his focus was on “trying to be more successful in my acting.” That’s why Norris initially allowed the words to “slide out of the side of my head there.”

“Finally, my best friend said, ‘You have got to get your act together. You are really not a happy guy. There’s a woman I want you to meet. I’m going to invite her to Dallas,'” Norris recalled.

This girl happened to be O’Kelley, and Norris went on to marry her in 1998. They went on to welcome twins Dakota and Danilee in 2001. Norris was also the father of two sons from a previous marriage. He additionally had daughter from a previous relationship.
