Last week, we reported that the singer Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of a DUI on the night of Wednesday, March 4. Now, insiders are claiming that Spears is both “devastated” and terrified of facing jail time in the wake of her arrest.

Spears Is ‘Devastated’

“She’s devastated,” a source close to Spears, 44, told Page Six. The insider added that he encounter “has scared the crap out of her.”

“Britney knows she has to face the consequences whatever they may be,” the source continued. The insider then said that Spears is “just praying it is rehab and not jail.”

The source went on to say that Spears “knows what’s happened is very, very bad and has the potential to impact not just her life, but everyone around her, especially her boys,” Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19. She shares them with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, who she was married to from 2004 until they divorced in 2007.

“She feels a lot of regret over what has happened,” the insider stated. This source also noted that “the last thing she wants is to go to jail,” also alleging that Spears “has no one to blame but herself. And she is well aware of that.”

Spears’ Loved Ones Rally Around Her

Meanwhile, the source assured fans that “the people around her are working on a plan.”

“They would very much like to get her into a treatment center so she can have the time and space to get herself healthy and on the right track,” the insider said. “It would be a medical detox.”

“This is not about getting her back to work. This is about Britney living a fulfilled and healthy life with her boys and her family,” the source continued. “That is her priority right now. She just wants to be a good mom and to be happy.”

The insider concluded by saying that Spears’ sons “are with her right now” as she faces the consequences.

“They love her and want to support her and just want her to feel better,” our source said. According to the insider, “everyone is just waiting to see what the tests” on what was found in her car reveal.

Spears’ Arrest

Spears was arrested in Ventura, California last Wednesday night. She was released in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The California Highway Patrol has said that Spears was “driving erratically at a high rate of speed … showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests.” She also “was subsequently arrested for a violation of California Vehicle Code section 23152(g), driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol” and booked in Ventura Country Main Jail.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Spears’ rep told USA Today after her arrest. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law. And hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her,” the representative continued. “Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

Spears is due to appear in court next on May 4. Only time will tell how this all turns out for her.
