Britney Spears was arrested in Ventura, California on Wednesday night. Indeed, she was taken into custody on suspicion of a DUI.
Spears Arrested In California
People Magazine obtained arrest records from the Ventura Sheriff’s Office showing that Spears, 44, was placed under arrest on the night of Wednesday, March 4. A law enforcement source said that Spears’ arrest was on suspicion of a DUI.
Spears was reportedly released in the early hours of Thursday morning. Her arrest was listed as a “cite and release” with no probation listed. Spears is due to next appear in court on May 4.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a representative for Spears said in a statement. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her,” the representative added. “Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
Spears is the mother of sons Preston, 20, and son Jayden, 19. She shares them with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, who she was married to from 2004 until they divorced in 2007.
Spears’ Concerning Online Videos
Meanwhile, Spears has been sparking concern as of late with her bizarre social media videos. She appears to have deleted her Instagram page in the wake of her arrest.
In a video posted to Spears’ Instagram page on February 23, she looked disheveled as she danced to the Billie Eilish song “Bad Guy.” In that video, she wore a strange combination of clothes that included a cowboy hat and an army green trench. She paired this with a fitted cropped red top and black skirt.
Fans quickly noticed that the black skirt was visibly ripped in the back. Spears kept pulling it up to try and avoid exposing her backside. At one point, she also held up her middle finger to the camera.
“TRICKED YA !!! Y’ALL THOUGHT I WAS GONE !!! BE PRETTY N [expletive] WITH DRESS !!!” Spears captioned the Instagram Reel. “COME ON NOW, MAMMA KNOWS THAT HEART MORE THAN ANY BODY !!!”

Spears’ History
Spears has certainly had her ups and downs over the years. Indeed, in 2021, she was released from her 13-year conservatorship by a judge in Los Angeles. Spears has since been very outspoken about her feelings of being mistreated by her family, including dad Jamie, 73, mom Lynne, 70, and sister Jamie Lynn, 34.
“For those of you in your family that have said to help you is to isolate you and make you feel unbelievably left out … they were wrong. We can forgive as people but u don’t ever forget,” Spears wrote on Instagram last month. “Yearning and longing for contact is always crucial !!!”
Spears went on to say that she believes she is “incredibly lucky to even be alive with how my family treated me once in my life and now I’m scared of them.”
This has clearly been a very difficult time for Spears. We can only pray that this arrest is a wakeup call that allows her to turn her life around.
