Bonnie Tyler is on the mend after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal, her team confirmed.
Recovering After Surgery
The 74‑year‑old singer was admitted to a hospital in Faro, where she owns a home, and is now recovering following a successful procedure.
Her manager, Matt Davis, said in a statement, “Bonnie has been admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal… for emergency intestinal surgery.”
“The surgery went well and she is now recuperating… We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”
Tyler has global dates booked from May through December.
No Intention of Slowing Down

The surgery comes after Tyler told Hello! magazine she was “fit enough at the moment” and loving life on the road after undergoing a “very successful” knee washout procedure.
She said she keeps herself moving with daily Pilates — “only 20 minutes a day.”
Tyler has been insistent that she has no intention of slowing down.
She previously told The Sunday Mirror’s Notebook that retirement isn’t on the cards. “I started singing when I was 17 and I never thought I’d still be doing it at this age… I know now that I will never retire.”
She added that the lockdown only strengthened her desire to stay on the road. “Even though I was so lucky because I was in Portugal when the first lockdown was announced, by the end of it, I’d had enough. I was going crazy. I needed to get back out there on the road!”
Total Eclipse of the Heart
Meanwhile, Tyler recently revealed she earns a pittance for her biggest track, Total Eclipse of the Heart.
Speaking to BBC Wales, she celebrated the 1983 mega-hit surpassing one billion streams, saying, “I’m really happy — when you think about it, there’s only 8.3 billion people in the world.”
But she also admitted the streaming payout is shockingly low. “Oh, it’s nothing — just about nothing.”
