Last month, we reported that rumors were swirling that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were divorcing. Now, Shelton is responding to these rumors publicly in a big way.
Shelton Responds To Divorce Rumors
Shelton, 49, hosted Country Countdown USA on Saturday, January 10. There, he attempted to clear up rumors that he and Stefani, 56, are splitting.
“I started noticing these articles popping up about ‘Blake and Gwen, they’re split up,’” Shelton said. “‘They’re not even seeing each other anymore, they’re going through a divorce.’ And then, a week later, a picture comes out of us walking out of the grocery store … ‘Oh, they’re back together again!’”
“And another week goes by and we’re not seen at the grocery store … ‘They’re divorcing,’” he continued. “I see pictures of Gwen and I on social media that I really go, ‘That looks so real.’ But I know I don’t even own that shirt or, ‘Whose car is that?’”
Shelton went on to say that he doesn’t “believe anything anymore that I see on the internet.” Check out Shelton and Stefani ringing in the new year together below.
Shelton And Stefani’s History
Shelton and Stefani first met back in 2014 when they were each coaches on The Voice. At the time, they were each married to other people. She was married to the singer Gavin Rossdale, while he was married to his fellow country music star Miranda Lambert.
By July of 2015, both Shelton and Stefani had divorced their respective spouses. They began dating that year, and they later married in 2021.
Last year, Shelton and Stefani celebrated the tenth anniversary of when they started dating.
“It honestly does [feel like time is flying by],” Shelton told People Magazine in May of 2025. “Some of the things that we talk about, we’re to the point in our relationship that it’s like, ‘Oh, remember what happened…’ and you realize, ‘Oh my God, that was 8 years ago!’ It’s like, how did this happen so quickly?”
Shelton then said that while “10 years is a long time,” his relationship with Stefani never stopped feeling “new” to him.
“I feel like that might be the key to happiness, is that it feels just as exciting and new and happy,” he gushed.
Shelton And Stefani Divorce Rumors
This will all come as a relief to fans. Indeed, rumors have been swirling that Shelton and Stefani are heading for divorce after they were rarely seen together in public in 2025.
Last month, a source close to the couple attempted to shoot these rumors down by saying that this was simply because Shelton and Stefani each have notoriously busy work schedules.
“There is no truth to the split rumors. They’ve just been juggling demanding schedules,” a source close to Stefani told People Magazine last week. “When they are together, it’s just so obvious how solid they are.”
“Sometimes they spend a lot of family time together and really treasure that, and then there are periods when the focus is more on work,” the insider continued. “They’re both at a place in their careers where they still genuinely enjoy what they do and they don’t want to give that up. Is it easy all the time? Of course not. They have a lot on their plates and a lot to balance, but that’s just how it is when you’re a family and both parents have careers.”
Shelton And Stefani’s ‘Strong’ Marriage
Another insider told US Weekly that Shelton and Stefani are “as strong as ever,” with their relationship being rooted in both family and faith.
“It’s rooted in the things that matter to them both. They are very devoted to each other,” this insider explained. “From the beginning of their relationship, they dealt with the obstacle of their careers taking them in different directions and having to spend time apart. But it’s a part of their lifestyle now. They make it work.”
While Shelton and Stefani need to travel a lot for work, they always reconnect in their “home base” of Oklahoma, according to this source.
“Then they spend quite a bit of time in California and then Las Vegas,” the insider stated. “Traveling back and forth is just part of the job at this point, and they’ve both been quite used to it for many years.”
