In the radically liberal entertainment world, it’s rare to find a celebrity who is brave enough to publicly praise President Donald Trump. That’s why it came as such a welcome surprise when the country music legend Billy Ray Cyrus just spoke out to do just that!

Cyrus Defends Trump

When asked about President Trump in a new interview, Cyrus replied, “I can’t speak to his voice — he’s the president.”

“My dad was a Democrat and served in the Kentucky legislature for over 20 years, but my dad always said, ‘When the president asks you to do something, you do it, son,’” Cyrus, 64, told Sky News.

Cyrus went on to say that he respects the office of the presidency, regardless of who specifically is in the White House.

“I’ve had both Democratic and Republican presidents,” Cyrus said. “Served with Bill Clinton, with President Obama, Mr. Bush, Mr. Bush’s dad, and Mr. Trump.”

“Being president is a tough job,” the father of Miley Cyrus continued. “I pray for our country, I pray for our president, and I pray for our world.”

Cyrus’ Liberty Ball Performance

Cyrus previously identified as a Democrat. He then changed his tune and publicly endorsed Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

In January of 2025, Cyrus performed at the Liberty Ball in celebration of Trump’s return to the White House.

“I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me,” Cyrus told People Magazine at the time.

“I had a ball at the Liberty Ball last night, and I’ve learned through all these years when the producer says, ‘You’re on,’ you go entertain the folks even if the equipment goes to hell,” he continued. “I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock n roll!!!”

Cyrus Stands By His Views

After Cyrus’ performance, his adopted son Trace Cyrus claimed that he was unsure what the singer was “struggling with.” He also alleged that the family is concerned.

“We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it,” Trace wrote on Instagram at the time. “Just like I showed up for you at mamaws funeral when you didn’t expect me to I’m still here right now.”

Cyrus quickly fired back with a statement of his own.

“Sunday callin,” the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer said. “Giving thanks for the California Rain. Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children… sons and daughters… and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Amen.”

The hateful left can criticize Cyrus for supporting Trump all that they want to, but at least he has a mind of his own. In the end, that’s more than most celebrities can say when it comes to politics.

God bless you, Billy Ray Cyrus!
