The Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been embroiled in a messy divorce battle since 2016. Though a judge ruled in 2019 that Jolie and Pitt were each legally single, their divorce wasn’t settled, and they’re still fighting it out in court to this day.

Now, Jolie is begging Pitt to “end the fighting” by dropping his lawsuit against her that pertains to their French winery.

Pitt And Jolie Clash Over Winery

Pitt has been suing Jolie after she sold away her half of Château Miraval for $67 million back in October of 2021. He claimed that this move violated a verbal agreement that they’d had. Jolie has fired back by alleging that she refused to let him buy her out of the vineyard because she didn’t want to sign the NDA that he’d drawn up as part of the deal.

The Girl Interrupted actress has reportedly asked that Pitt disclose third-party communications he had in the wake of the infamous 2016 private plane incident that led to their split. Jolie has alleged that Pitt “behaved like a monster” during this flight with their six children present.

Pitt’s lawyers have asked a judge to deny this request, referring to it as “intrusive” and as being a “sensationalist fishing expedition.”

‘End The Fighting’

Jolie’s lawyer Paul Murphy told People Magazine on Wednesday that when Pitt offered to buy Jolie’s portion of the business, he “tried to punish and control Angelina by demanding a newly expanded NDA to cover his personal misconduct and abuse.”

“Those actions are central to these proceedings,” Murphy added. “We are not at all surprised Mr. Pitt is afraid to turn over the documents demonstrating these facts.”

“While Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong,” he continued.

Pitt and Jolie bought the winery back in 2008. They then married on the vineyard six years later. In the years since their split, Pitt and Jolie have been battling in court over both the winery and custody of their six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.

Judge Issues Ruling

This comes two months after a judge ruled that Jolie must produce eight years’ worth of non-disclosure agreements that she has made. Pitt’s legal team was reportedly hoping that by showing Jolie’s history of NDAs, it would become clear that they are standard in doing business with her.

A source close to Pitt said afterwards that the ruling was a “significant blow to the credibility” of Jolie’s claims. The insider added that it was a “strong statement challenging them to match their rhetoric with actual facts, which they consistently have been not been able to do.”

Murphy responded by saying that Jolie’s legal team is “more than happy to” turn over those “common NDAs” since they “are simply not comparable to Mr. Pitt’s last-second demand to try and cover up his personal misconduct.”

Murphy went on to say that the ruling “opens the door to discovery on all issues related to Pitt’s abuse” and “we welcome that transparency in all parties’ discovery responses.”

This has clearly become one of the messiest divorces in Hollywood history. For the sake of their children, we can only hope that Jolie and Pitt are able to put an end to all of this at some point in the near future.
