The A-list Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been embroiled in a nasty divorce battle ever since they split way back in 2016. While they were each declared legally single in 2019, they have continued to battle it out in court over their assets and custody of their six children.

Believe it or not, this bitter divorce is now about to escalate in a big way. Indeed, eight years after it began, sources say it is about to “get uglier.”

Pitt And Jolie’s Divorce Escalates

Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 49, are set to face-off in court next year now that a judge threw out Jolie’s motion to dismiss Pitt’s lawsuit over their French vineyard, Château Miraval.

Jolie filed motions to dismiss claims Pitt made against her concerning a verbal agreement over their 50-50 ownership of the vineyard. She alleges that the agreement had been nullified after Pitt requested she sign an NDA pertaining to their marriage. Both sides appear to be preparing to throw everything at this case.

“It’s already been ugly but it’s going to get even uglier as Angie is bent on retaliating against Brad and will try to continue to settle more old personal scores,” a source close to the case told Daily Mail.

Both Jolie and Pitt have already spent millions on their divorce battle. This latest development will only cost each of them even more.

Pitt’s lawyers are alleging that Jolie violated the couple’s deal to not sell their respective stakes in Miraval without both parties’ permission. In 2021, Jolie sold her shares to Russian businessman Yuri Shefler and his Stoli Group. Court filings submitted last week indicate that a judge has found basis to Pitt’s claims that the verbal agreement he had with Jolie was binding.

“This is a straightforward business dispute, but unfortunately, the other side has consistently introduced personal elements which have exposed the weaknesses in their case and complicated and lengthened the proceedings,” said a source close to Pitt.

Another insider close to Pitt claimed that Jolie using the NDA as her legal strategy in this case “has backfired spectacularly.”

“Her defense has been exposed as a house of cards, and she will now have to provide details of all the NDAs she demanded of third parties,” this source said. “There is no question that this is a huge setback for her. There’s a long way to go, but in the context of the case so far, this is a hugely important and far-reaching ruling which will be problematic for her defense.”

Jolie And Pitt’s History

Jolie and Pitt met on the set of the 2005 movie Mr. And Mrs. Smith. At the time, Pitt was still married to the former Friends star Jennifer Aniston, but the speculation began right away. They soon split and he began dating Jolie. Pitt and Jolie went on to marry in 2014 in a ceremony at their vineyard Château Miraval in rural France.

Their legal union only lasted 25 months before they broke up. A bitter custody battle over their six children subsquently ensued. They are parents to Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. Their twins are the only two children who are still minors, yet the custody battle continues to this day.

Pitt has been accused of pouring red wine and beer over Jolie as their children looked on during a 2016 private jet trip. Jolie accused Pitt of grabbing her by the head. She also claimed that he choked one of their children before hitting another in the face.

Pitt has denied all of these allegations, however. The FBI and the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services immediately launched an investigation into Pitt. In November of 2016, the FBI announced that no charges would be brought.

This is clearly a very messy situation for everyone involved. For the sake of Jolie, Pitt, and their children, we can only hope that they soon come to some kind of resolution and move on with their lives.
