Last week, we reported that Jon Voight had issued a plea in his daughter Angelina Jolie’s bitter divorce battle. He spoke out to demand Brad Pitt to “end this nonsense” and find “a way to make peace” with Jolie eight years after she filed for divorce.

Now, it’s been revealed that Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 49, plan to avoid each other at the Venice Film Festival this weekend.

Jolie And Pitt To Avoid Each Other

Jolie’s Maria Callas biopic Maria, which she is already getting Oscar buzz for, premieres on Thursday, August 29. Meanwhile, Pitt’s movieWolfs, which he stars in with George Clooney, premieres on Saturday, September 1.

The festival’s artistic director Alberto Barbera told Vanity Fair that “of course” Jolie and Pitt’s appearances on the red carpet will be spread out. This should allow them to avoid one another completely.

“Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday [August] 29, and she will leave right after with [Maria director] Pablo Larraín to go to [the] Telluride [Film Festival],” he explained. “Brad will arrive only on Saturday, to Venice. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido.”

Earlier in the day on Thursday, Jolie was asked how she can relate to the opera singer Callas, who she plays in Maria.

“There’s a lot I won’t say in this room that you probably know and assume,” she said. “I related to the part of her that is extremely soft and didn’t have room in the world to be as soft as she truly was and as emotionally open as she truly was. I think I share her vulnerability more than anything.”

Meanwhile, Pitt was recently seen spending time with Clooney, 63, in Italy earlier this month.

Voight’s Plea To Jolie And Pitt Amidst Bitter Divorce

Jolie and Pitt have been embroiled in a nasty divorce battle ever since she filed in 2016. While they were each declared legally single in 2019, their divorce battle has continued in court. In the years since then, they’ve been fighting over custody of their six children.

Voight, 85, issued his heartfelt plea. He did so after admitting that he doesn’t speak to his grandchildren “as much as [he’d] like.” However, he still thinks it’s time for their parents to resolve things.

“I wish they’d find a way to make peace,” Voight told Fox News. “You know, I think the kids need some stability. I love the kids, and I love my daughter. And I want Brad to step up to do, you know, what he has to do. End this nonsense.”

Jolie Discusses Leaving Pitt

In June of 2020, Jolie said that she left Pitt for the “well-being” of her children.

“I separated for the well-being of my family. It was the right decision,” Jolie said at the time. “I continue to focus on their healing.”

“Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds,” she continued. “In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people.”

While it’s good that Jolie and Pitt will be able to avoid each other this weekend, it’s unfortunate that their divorce battle is continuing. In the end, they each might want to heed Voight’s wise advice and find a way to make peace. Life is just too short for this!
