The Hollywood legend Carol Burnett turned 91 two months ago. Despite this, she has no plans to retire for one simple reason: she’s having too much fun!

Burnett Has No Plans To Retire

“Well, as long as it’s going to be fun. I’m in it for fun,” Burnett told Fox News.

This comes after Burnett’s Apple TV+ series Palm Royale was picked up for a second season.

“All they had to do was say who was in it and I said, ‘I’m there,'” she said when asked why she took this role. “I don’t care what you want me to do.”

Burnett stars in this comedy-drama series alongside Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Laura Dern, Josh Lucas, and Kaia Gerber.

“I said, ‘I’m in,'” Burnett recalled of when she was told who else was in the show. “Then I read the script, and so that was the cherry on top of the sundae. So, I’m thrilled with coming back a second season.”

Burnett’s Hollywood Bucket List

Even after decades of working in Hollywood, Burnett still has a bucket list of stars that she wants to work with in the future.

“Oh, there’s quite a few,” Burnett explained. “I would say Meryl Streep because she’s funny and boy, can she sing. George Clooney — for obvious reasons. Bradley Cooper — for obvious reasons.”

“I’ve had good fortune of working with, in my career, over all those 300 people, because of my show,” she added. “Eleven years, two guest stars a week. I’m just so lucky.”

Burnett was referring to her classic sketch comedy series The Carol Burnett Show, which ran from 1967 until 1978.

Burnett has long been open about her plans to never retire.

“For me it keeps the old grey matter ticking… It keeps me young,” she once said of working, according to The Guardian.

Burnett previously opened up to the Chicago Sun Times about what she wants her legacy to be.

“Someone once asked me what I wanted my legacy to be and I said maybe it’s just that I made people laugh when they needed it,” Burnett said. “It also gives me joy. It’s reciprocal. It makes me happy that people are laughing. It gives me a new lease on life.”

Burnett Honored In Hollywood

Burnett was honored on Thursday when she got the chance to place her handprints and footprints in cement outside the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. She became visibly emotional as she recalled growing up near the famous theater in a one-room apartment with her grandmother.

“If my grandmother is somehow floating around, I know that she is as amazed and thrilled as I am,” Burnett said, according to NBC Los Angeles. “And, I thank you so very much.”

Burnett’s Palm Royale co-star Laura Dern took part in the ceremony.

“She’s an example of leading by instinct and without bitterness,” Dern said. “She thrives on challenges that have re-invented television and everything the arts can encompass.”
