The next big live-action movie is in the works, and fans can’t wait!
According to Disney, a live-action Beauty and the Beast spinoff is in development called Gaston, and as the name suggests, will focus on the egotistical villain in the popular Disney movie.

The conglomerate is taking another one of its iconic villains and putting them on the front stage. While it’s only in early development now, there are some things that fans might want to know about the upcoming title.
According to Deadline, Dave Callaham is writing the script, and Michelle Rejwan is producing it.
But for those not familiar with Beauty and the Beast, let’s dive into what the movie will be focused on. Gaston first appeared in the 1991 animated classic Beauty and the Beast, and is portrayed as an arrogant and ruthless hunter with unrequited feelings for the main protagonist, Belle. He also becomes the main adversary of Beast.

In the 2017 live-action movie, Gaston is played by Luke Evans. The live-action did so well that there was talk about a TV series centered on Gaston, with Evans reprising that role; however, it was eventually scrapped.
While the plot details are vague about this new movie, it should focus on a new and original story with a new actor. Some sources claim that there will be “swashbuckling” tones to it.

The good news is that the movie is in great hands. Rejwan has overseen some outstanding live-action movies, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
As for Callaham, he’s known for some stellar pieces as well, including The Expendables, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Godzilla x Kong.
