The documentary offers an intimate portrait of one of the greatest American musicians of the last 50 years. The show premiered on July 18 with a five-hour look at the life and career of Billy Joel.
The Long Island-born Rock and Roll Hall of Famer gave a number of in-depth one-on-one interviews when making the documentary, which also includes the never-before-seen performances, home movies, and personal photographs.
IN addition to Joel’s interviews, directors Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin sat down with people from Joel’s life to dive into more of his story.

These people include friend and former collaborator Jon Small, ex-wife and former manager Elizabeth Weber, ex-wives Christie Brinkley and Katie Lee, daughter Alexa Ray Joel, wife Alexis Roderick Joel, members of his band, and musical contemporaries, such as Bruce Springsteen, Sting, John Mellencamp, Nas, Pink, Garth Brooks, and Paul McCartney.
