When Amy Schumer deleted her pre-weight-loss photos on Instagram, essentially starting fresh on the app, fans started speculating the reason.
Many believed that Schumer didn’t like the way she looked; however, the comedian revealed the reason on November 12.
After receiving criticism for her choice to delete her photos on social media, where she debuted her weight loss transformation, Amy Schumer came back to clear the air.
“Hey media outlets I didn’t delete my old photos because they were pre me losing weight,” Amy wrote on Instagram on November 12. “That’s a narrative you created. I’m proud of how I’ve always looked.”
She continued in the post, saying, “I have been working to be pain free and I finally am. My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal. I am grateful to be strong and healthy, especially for my son.”
The comedian was very clear about her reasoning, diving into her personal struggles. She clarified that she didn’t purposely “go on a weight loss journey,” and that her main focus had always been her health.
This hasn’t been the first time that Schumer talked openly about her weight and health. Earlier this year, she spoke about her try with Ozempic on the Howard Stern Show and admitted that it made her horribly sick. She also talked about switching to Mounjaro and losing 35 pounds without any negative side effects.
“My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy. I want to ‘get down’ more, if you know what I mean,” she shared on Instagram in March. “I’m talking about sex. So, yeah, that’s been great. Mounjaro’s been great.”
But what was the reason behind deleting her posts on Instagram? Amy Schumer talked about how it was like a creative expression. “Your Instagram is not your identity, it’s a curation of what you want the world to see, and I feel great strong and beautiful and it’s been fun sharing that.”
