Robert De Niro is one of the most celebrated American actors of all time. His filmography is a hit parade – one great film after another.

You could easily spend an entire day watching nothing but De Niro hits – and in fact, that’s what some moviegoers will actually do.

Tribeca Film Festival

If you’ve never heard of the Tribeca Film Festival, it’s one of the most prestigious out there. Held in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood, the festival was partly created by De Niro.

The festival was launched in the aftermath of 9/11, when Tribeca was devastated by the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers. They show all kinds of films – remakes, art-house, blockbusters, everything.

This time, they’re going to go full De Niro in honor of their founder. Fellow Tribeca co-founder Jane Rosenthal said of the event, “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 80 years of Robert De Niro, my dear friend and co-conspirator for the past 35 years, than by throwing a big bash for his fellow New Yorkers.”

So what exactly do we get?

De Niro Con!

To honor the Italian-American actor, Tribeca will run 10 De Niro movies, each one greater than the last. Here’s the full list:

  • A Bronx Tale – directed by Robert De Niro
  • Jackie Brown – directed by Quentin Tarantino
  • Analyze This – directed by Harold Ramis
  • Silver Linings Playbook – directed by David O. Russell
  • Good Fellas – directed by Martin Scorsese
  • The Godfather Part II – directed by Francis Ford Coppola
  • The Deer Hunter – directed by Michael Cimino
  • Raging Bull – directed by Martin Scorsese
  • Taxi Driver – directed by Martin Scorsese
  • Mean Streets – directed by Martin Scorsese

As you can see, De Niro and Scorsese have had quite the working relationship over the years!

But that’s not all. They’re really going all out with the “fan experience” events, “including Max Cady’s prison tattoo parlor from Cape Fear (where fans can get real or temporary tattoos), Travis Bickle’s bedroom from Taxi Driver, and Jack Byrnes’ infamous polygraph test from Meet The Parents.”

I don’t know about you, but it sounds fun to goof around with the polygraph machine.

De Niro’s Career

As already mentioned, and proven with the above list, De Niro’s career has been one big hit parade. And for his work, he’s earned the industry’s top awards.

A short list of his accolades include:

  • Two Oscars
  • Golden Globe Award
  • Cecil B. DeMille Award
  • Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Presidential Medal of Freedom
  • Six films added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry as culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant

Frankly, there’s not much more for De Niro to achieve – but it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down any, even at 80 years old!
