The country music star Shania Twain is speaking out about the singer Taylor Swift, whose latest album “The Tortured Poets Department” dropped this morning.

Swift ‘Is Living An Exhausting Existence’

Twain, 58, told Haute Living that Swift, 34, is living an “exhausting existence” at the moment.

“That girl is working her butt off,” Twain said of Swift. “She is living an exhausting existence.”

“She’s dedicated and committed to herself, to her art, and her work,” she continued. “It isn’t even about ambition, though I’m sure that most people would call her ambitious.”

Instead, Twain said that Swift has found success because she is “an extremely hard worker.”

“And I’m sure she’s got giant goals,” she added. “But it’s not all about ambition: it’s about passion and committing yourself to your passion. [Like Taylor], I was and am someone who does that, and that’s what really reaps rewards. So, I would say that I’m most proud of my perseverance, and that I didn’t waste my talents.”

Twain’s Vegas Residency

Twain is currently preparing to celebrate the anniversary of her 1997 album “Come On Over” with her upcoming Las Vegas residency of the same name, which starts next month at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, according to People Magazine.

“At the time [of release], I wasn’t able to fully be in the moment and enjoy it,” she said of the album. “There were so many singles, so many videos, and so much work involved that I didn’t really take it all in. Now, looking back, I’m experiencing certain things for the first time. I’m being reminded of things that I may not have been able to take in at that moment.”

After becoming a household name with her 1995 album “The Woman in Me,” Twain didn’t know what to expect with “Come On Over.”

“I’d already felt like I’d achieved everything that most artists can ever achieve. My previous album, ‘The Woman in Me,’ had surpassed diamond status,” she recalled. “I remember thinking, ‘This probably won’t happen again, lightning doesn’t strike twice, and that I was just going to have fun with what came next.’ So that’s what I did.”

“You can hear it in the album: I experimented more, I stretched boundaries, but I was more relaxed about it. And so, ‘Come on Over’ became a celebration album,” she added.

Courtney Love Rips Swift

Twain’s comments about Swift are in stark contrast to remarks made about the pop singer by the rock star Courtney Love earlier this week.

“Taylor is not important,” Love, the widow of the Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, told the Evening Standard . “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

Let’s just say fans of Swift, who call themselves “Swifties,” didn’t take that well.

Swift’s eleventh studio album “The Tortured Poets Department” dropped on Friday morning. Forbes reported that the album is already a huge hit, instantly becoming a streaming and sales hit when it was released at midnight.

Whether you like Swift or not, it can’t be denied that she is one of the most popular singers on earth right now. This means that Twain is likely correct in saying that it is “exhausting” to be her.
