Earlier this month, we reported that the country music star Morgan Wallen had been arrested in Nashville, Tennessee for throwing a chair off of a rooftop bar. Now, Wallen is seemingly trying to move on by teaming up with the charity Make-a-Wish to make a little girl’s dream come true.

Wallen Teams Up With Make-A-Wish

Fox News reported that Wallen partnered with Make-a-Wish to make the dream come true of the 12 year-old Mississippi-native Jayla Hibbler, who successfully completed both her chemo and radiation treatments on Monday and Wednesday of last week. Wallen is Hibbler’s favorite artist, and she got to see him on his “One Night At A Time” tour stop in Oxford.

Hibbler was shocked to learn that her wish was being granted as she was walking into a clothing store expecting to go shopping last Thursday morning. Instead, she was greeted by officials with Make-A-Wish Mississippi, who told her that she’d be meeting Wallen that weekend, according to WDAM-TV.

“I thought we were just coming shopping,” Hibbler said.

Hibbler was diagnosed with stage IV Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma back in November of 2023, and she’s spent the past five months undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments at New Orleans Children’s Hospital.

“We haven’t had a trip in a long time since all the things I’ve been going on,” Hibbler said. “We’re going to make memories with family. It feels good. It feels like life is going back to normal.”

When asked what she’s learned throughout her cancer journey, Hibbler replied, “Keep going. You may feel like you want to give up, but just keep going because you’re going to get somewhere in the end.”

Wallen’s Arrest

This comes just a few weeks after Wallen was arrested for allegedly throwing a chair off the rooftop of a bar in Nashville, Tennessee. The chair landed near two police officers, and Wallen was then charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

If convicted on all charges, Wallen is facing up to six years in prison.

“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s,” Wallen said the night before his performance in Oxford. “I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.”

“I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe,” he added. “Regarding my tour, there will be no change.”

Wallen Pokes Fun At His Arrest

The New York Post reported that during Wallen’s performance in Oxford, the stadium poked fun at his arrest by posting a message on the jumbotron.

“Ladies and gentlemen, fortunately Morgan has a full voice and is very able to perform tonight.. Therefore, he’s ready to run this s— back and make things right…,” the message read. “No reason to make your way to the exits for the next two hours because Morgan and the boys are about to rock Oxford’s face off!!!”

Once he took the stage, Wallen continued to make fun of his current situation by recounting how his rowdiness nearly got him kicked off his high school baseball team before he played his song “’98 Braves.”

“I got this set up here behind me, these flags are from my high school. And it represents something,” he stated. “I had a coach, I played baseball, his name was Coach Davidson. When I was a junior in high school, I almost got kicked off the team. I was a li’l rowdy back then. I guess I’m still a little rowdy now.”

“But coach… he never gave up on me, and there’s been a lot of people who never gave up on me – some of them in this building tonight… you guys included,” he added. “I just wanted to shout out that part of my life.”

While Wallen’s behavior that led to his arrest is certainly disturbing, he should still be applauded by making a young fan’s dream come true through Make-a-Wish. Here’s hoping that he leans into that side of his personality moving forward, and that he moves on from some of the rowdiness.
