The country music star Reba McEntire has enjoyed being madly in love with her actor boyfriend Rex Linn after reconnecting with him on the set of “Young Sheldon” just before the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Now, McEntire is opening up about how their relationship started.
McEntire Recalls Start Of Romance With Linn
“We were all going to go out and have dinner. Melissa [Peterman] says that that was our first date, because, I mean, I was like a magnet to Rex. I just couldn’t get close enough to him,” McEntire, 68, told the talk show host Drew Barrymore. “I don’t know why. We had talked and communicated throughout the years, had a mutual friend, Ed Gaylord, and we stayed in contact. But for some reason, that night was just so special.”
After dinner, McEntire and Linn went to a wine bar, where she revealed her love for tater tots to him. He responded by telling her, “I’m famous for giving people their nicknames, and that’s your nickname.”
“Later on during the pandemic, I was in Oklahoma with my sister Susie, and she said, ‘You know he gave you Tater Tot, let’s give him Sugar Tot,'” she recalled, according to Fox News. “So we’re the tots. Sugar and Tater. How about that? Is that not cute?”
McEntire and Linn had met decades earlier, and when she once asked him why they didn’t take things to the next level sooner, he replied, “Probably because you would have killed me.” She could not help but agree with this, saying, “He’s a wild man. He’s a 12-year-old.”

McEntire And Linn Find Love
McEntire and Linn both have extensive relationship histories, as she’s been married twice and he’s been engaged four times, but this only appears to have made their bond stronger.
“It’s good to have a person to talk to, laugh with, get into subjects about what’s going on,” she said in October of 2020. “Discussions about our past, our family, funny stories, him being an actor, me being an actress. And he’s very into my music. I’m very into his career. It’s just great getting to talk to somebody who I find very interesting, very funny, very smart and is interested in me, too.”
In October of last year, McEntire told People Magazine that she loves Linn “with all my heart,” adding that “he’s a very supportive man” who always shows up for her after she’s had a long work day.
“Rex meets me at the garage when I get out of the car. He’ll fix me a drink if I need it,” McEntire said. “He’ll sit there and talk to me because I’ve talked my head off all day long so he knows I just need to relax and chill.”
‘Every Day Is Valentine’s Day For Us’
Last month, McEntire revealed that her relationship with Linn is “very romantic.”
“Every day is Valentine’s Day for us. We’re just silly, goofy people in our 60s that love life [and] love each other,” she explained. “We have fun. We’re dorky, goofy, and we have similar interests in just about everything, so it’s just fun all the time.”
McEntire and Linn may have found love later in life, but it seems that they could not be any happier. In the end, they’re showing the world that it’s never too late to find romance, and we wish them many years of happiness to come!
