‘Blue Bloods’ Honors Williams

Fox News reported that Ross, the former partner of New York City Police Commissioner Francis “Frank” Reagan (played by Tom Selleck), had last appeared on “Blue Bloods” in a season 13 episode in which it was revealed that he had cancer. On Friday’s episode, Ross sadly passed away after battling the disease.

The latest episode saw Reagan struggle with the decision of having to make Lenny’s daughter Tess face prosecution after she’s arrested following a bar fight.

“He was my best friend. And I’m gonna honor that by doing what’s best for his daughter,” Reagan said, ultimately deciding to refer Tess to a good defense attorney. Reagan later honored Ross during a final scene over a family meal.

“Lenny Ross was my oldest friend, my closest confidant, my getaway driver,” Reagan said. “And I lost him this week. And it hurts like hell. But Lenny would hate it if we got all teary and quiet and sad, so Lenny: We’ll miss ya. And save me a seat at your table, and I’ll see ya on down the road.”

The episode ended with a photo of Williams with his arm around Selleck along with the caption, “In memory of our great friend, Treat Williams 1951-2023.”

Williams’ Death

Williams was riding his motorcycle in June of last year when he was unable to avoid a Honda SUV.

“The Vermont State Police is investigating a crash between an SUV and a motorcycle Monday afternoon, June 12, 2023, in Dorset in which the operator of the motorcycle suffered fatal injuries,” read an official statement at the time. “The motorcyclist is identified as Richard Treat Williams, 71, of Manchester Center, Vermont.”

“Initial investigation indicates the Element stopped, signaled a left turn, and then turned into the path of a northbound 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle operated by Williams,” the statement added.

Williams was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead. Ryan Koss, 35, has since been charged with grossly negligent operation resulting in death, and he is facing up to 15 years in prison if he’s found guilty.

Selleck Honors Williams

Selleck, 79, was close friends with Williams in real life, and he paid tribute to him after his death.

“It has been said that we are all just passing time and occupy our chair very briefly,” Selleck told People Magazine. “My friend Treat was aptly named and occupied his chair so well. I will miss him but I will not forget him. Well done, my friend.”

Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan on “Blue Bloods,” also honored him after his passing.

“He was a role model off screen as well. His love and devotion to his family was one for all to admire. We lost a good one, folks. RIP Treat,” she said.

Williams is survived by his wife Pamela Van Sant and their two adult children. Please join us in saying a prayer for them as they continue to mourn him.
