Robert De Niro Shamelessly Bashes ‘Stupid’ Trump At Cannes Film Festival

While promoting his new movie Killers of the Flower Moon at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend, Robert De Niro shamelessly used a press conference to bash the former President Donald Trump.

De Niro Attacks Trump

Variety reported that Killers Of The Flower Moon, which was directed by Martin Scorcese, “tells the story of the murders that took place in the early 1920s after major oil deposits were discovered on the Osage nation’s land” and it “also depicts how the newly formed FBI investigated the bloodshed.”

In the film, De Niro plays the real-life convicted murderer William Hale. Though the story in the film has absolutely nothing to do with Trump, De Niro still somehow ended up comparing him to the former president, showing just how obsessed with the Republican he really is.

“Part of him is sincere. The other part, where he’s betraying [the Osage people], there’s a feeling of entitlement.” De Niro said. “We became a lot more aware [of that dichotomy] after George Floyd with systemic racism.”

“It’s the banality of evil. It’s the thing we have to watch out for. We see it today, of course. We all know who I’m going to talk about. but I’m not going to say the name,” he continued. “That guy is stupid. Imagine if you’re smart. Even Hale was smart in many ways.”

When De Niro’s co-star Lily Gladstone attempted to get the conversation back to their actual movie, De Niro managed to interject to rant about blind loyalty to “evil” men.

“There are people who still think he can do a good job,” he said, clearly referring to Trump. “Imagine how insane that is.”

De Niro’s Past Attacks On Trump

This is far from the first time that De Niro has publicly bashed Trump, as he’s long had one of the biggest cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome in Hollywood. Most infamously, during a live broadcast of the 2018 Tony Awards, De Niro used his time to curse out Trump with multiple f-bombs.

“I’m gonna say one thing: F— Trump!” he yelled, according to Fox News. “It’s no longer down with Trump, it’s f— Trump!”

That same year, De Niro also used his time onstage at the National Board of Review awards gala to slam Trump.

“Today the world is suffering from the real Donald Trump. Come on. You know,” De Niro said. “What are we talking about? This f—ing idiot is the president. It’s the Emperor’s New Clothes – the guy is a f—ing fool.”

“Our baby-in-chief – the j—off-in-chief, I call him – has put the press under siege, ridiculing it through trying to discredit it through outrageous attacks and lies,” he added.

De Niro Slams Trump Supporters

De Niro has also spoken out against the millions of people who voted for Trump, showing that he has nothing but contempt for them.

“I’m not like political, but I was so angry and so enraged and confounded that he would actually behave the way he did and that people bought it,” De Niro said in 2020. “Now I see many, many, many people in the country feel this way. I’m sad about other people who don’t.”

“They’ve accepted him and would have voted for him and have voted for him,” he continued. “I don’t know why. That’s all that it was from the very beginning. Just how could this guy behave this way? That’s all.”

De Niro has been a part of Hollywood’s liberal elite for over half a century, so it’s not surprising that he’s lost all touch with the reality of what the average American needs in a leader. All that De Niro is accomplishing with his anti-Trump rants at this point is showing what an unhealthy obsession he has with the former president.
