Earlier this week, we reported that Martha Stewart had made history as the oldest person to ever pose on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. In the days since then, haters have accused her of getting plastic surgery, and also claimed that her photos in the magazine were overly retouched.

Now, Stewart is firing back at these “naysayers” in a big way.

Stewart Addresses ‘Naysayers’

“There are only a few naysayers saying, ‘The pictures are over-retouched.’ But they’re not,” Stewart, 81, claimed to Variety. “They are incredibly accurate pictures. I was really pleased that there was not much airbrushing.”

“I’ve had absolutely no plastic surgery whatsoever,” she continued. “I have very healthy, good hair. I drink green juice every day. I take my vitamins. I eat very healthfully. I have very good skin doctors. I’m very careful in the sun. I wear hats and I wear sunblock every single day.”

Despite this, Stewart immediately then admitted, “Every now and then there are certain fillers that I can do for a little line here or there, but I hate Botox. It’s a weird thing for me. I really and truly don’t do a lot.”

Stewart Talks Prepping For Photoshoot

Daily Mail reported that Stewart wore nine different swimsuits for her Sports Illustrated photoshoot, which was done with photographer Ruven Afanador in the Punta Cana area of the Dominican Republic. She spent the months leading up to the shoot preparing by doing pilates, avoiding alcohol, and watching what she ate.

“I had my regular facials but maybe more frequently and I also got a spray tan,” she explained. “I’m not a hairy person, but I got a complete body wax.”

Despite this photoshoot, Stewart made a point of saying that she’s never considered posing for Playboy Magazine.

“I would never have done Playboy because I found that a very improper magazine because I was brought up a prude,” she stated. “We were very conservative. When we changed our clothes, we closed the bedroom door. We were not overt – except my middle sister was overt.”

What Stewart Didn’t Like About Photoshoot

Stewart told the New York Times that while she had a “really good time” on the set of the photoshoot, there were some thing about it that made her uncomfortable, like staffers referring to her breasts as “girls.”

“All these people were prodding me and talking about ‘the girls.’ I have never called my breasts ‘the girls’ in my life,” she recalled. “I hate stuff like that. The whole time, these people were nudging, ‘Poke this out, push that in.’ I had to put up with that for eight hours. Still, we were shooting in the Dominican Republic and I had a really good time.”

While age isn’t something that Stewart likes to focus on, she’s proud of being on this cover at 81.

“When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on a cover of Sports Illustrated,'” she said. “And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic.”

Whether she’s telling the truth about her plastic surgery or not, Stewart still showed the world with this cover that age really is just a number. God bless her for having the cuts to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit at 81!
