The A-list star Chris Pratt is one of the few people in Hollywood that is open about his strong Christian faith. In a new interview, the 43 year-old Marvel star is opening up about how the struggles that Jesus Christ faced has helped him deal with those who criticize him for being a man of God.

Pratt On People Attacking His Faith

Pratt was quick to agree when he was told people use his faith to attack him.

“I sure do but that’s nothing new, that’s nothing new, you know?” he told Page Six, going on to quote the biblical scripture, “If I was of this world, they would love me just like that but as it is, I’ve chosen out of this world. That’s John 15:18 through 20.”

“That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him, too,” he explained, referring to Jesus.

Pratt has been attacked for his faith many times over the years, most notably in 2019, when some haters claimed that he attended an anti-LGBTQ+ church.

“It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which ‘hates a certain group of people’ and is ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ.’ Nothing could be further from the truth,” he said at the time, according to Fox News. “I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.”

“My faith is important to me but no church defines me or my life,” he continued.

James Gunn Defends Pratt

Last month, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn defended Pratt on social media when someone called for him to be replaced in the movie franchise.

“For what?” Gunn wrote in a post that has since been deleted. “Because of your made-up, utterly-false beliefs about him? For something that someone else told you about him that’s not true? Chris Pratt would never be replaced as Star-Lord but, if he ever was, we would all be going with him.”

Pratt, however, sees having to deal with haters as a part of life.

“Oh, just how you deal with anything,” he said in his latest interview. “Like a rhino, stick your head down, you keep driving forward, you have thick skin and if anyone gets in your way, you stick the horn right up their ass!”

Pratt Discusses Religion

Pratt further opened about his religion in an interview with Men’s Health last year.

“Religion has been oppressive as f*** for a long time,” he said. “I didn’t know that I would kind of become the face of religion when really I’m not a religious person.”

“I think there’s a distinction between being religious — adhering to the customs created by man, oftentimes appropriating the awe reserved for who I believe is a very real God — and using it to control people, to take money from people, to abuse children, to steal land, to justify hatred,” he continued. “Whatever it is. The evil that’s in the heart of every single man has glommed onto the back of religion and come along for the ride.”

We applaud Pratt for having the courage to be so open about his Christian faith in an industry that appears to be straying further and further from God. If only we had more celebrities in Hollywood like Pratt!
