Valerie Bertinelli Devastated After Food Network Cancels Her Cooking Show – ‘I Have No Idea Why’

The Hollywood star Valerie Bertinelli has been going through a difficult time as of late, as she spent much of last year going through a bitter divorce. Now, she’s been hit with yet another crushing blow, as the Food Network has inexplicably cancelled her cooking show “Valerie’s Home Cooking” after 14 seasons.

Food Network Cancels Bertinelli’s Show

Bertinelli, 62, revealed this in a video posted to her Instagram page, starting it off by saying that she has “some good news” as well as some “bad news.”

“The good news is that (April 9) at 12 noon on Food Network, the 14th season of ‘Valerie’s Home Cooking’ starts airing all new episodes,” she said. “The bad news is that it’s its final season.”

Bertinelli went on to reveal that the Food Network had let her know last summer that her show had been cancelled, and that she has “no idea why” the network came to this decision.

“I didn’t say anything last summer because honestly, I was hoping they would change their mind,” she continued. “But they have not.”

“So this is it. This is the final season,” Bertinelli added. “I have loved making this show. It was such a dream come true. Every single part of it brought me so much joy. I love the crew. I loved everybody in production. They loved making this show for you.”

“So I hope you enjoy this final season because we made every single episode with love for all of you,” she concluded.

In the caption of her Instagram video, Bertinelli wrote that “it has been one of the huge joys in my life to bring you this sweet little show.”

“We loved making every single episode for you, and I will really, really miss it,” she added. “Thank you so much for watching!”

‘Valerie’s Home Cooking’ – Bertinelli’s Future With Food Network

NBC News reported that “Valerie’s Home Cooking” premiered back in 2015, with the first episode featuring the actress hosting a brunch for her “Hot In Cleveland” co-stars Betty White, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malick. Over the course of fourteen seasons, Bertinelli has had many famous faces appear on her show, including Hoda Kotb and Mackenzie Phillips. Members of Bertinelli’s own family made frequent appearances on the program as well.

“I don’t let any of them cook,” she said in 2017. “They’re there to have fun and eat my food. There are some who want to learn stuff, so that’s always fun.”

Despite this cancellation, Bertinelli’s time with the Food Network isn’t ending just yet. A source told People Magazine that Bertinelli will continue co-hosting the “Kids Baking Championship” with Duff Goldman, as she’s already finished shooting the next season of the competition series.

Bertinelli’s Bitter Divorce

Bertinelli finding out her show had been canceled last summer had to have been particularly hard for her, given the fact that she was in the middle of her divorce from her ex-husband Tom Vitale, who she was married to for 11 years. When the divorce was finalized in November of 2022, Bertinelli described it as the “second best day of my life.”

Over last summer, Bertinelli was open about how difficult her divorce was for her.

“I am gonna be more than happy to be happily divorced and spend the rest of my life alone,” she told TODAY in June of last year. “I’ll be happy that way. Well, with my six cats and my dog and my son, and hopefully one day grandchildren.”

Bertinelli went on to say that the divorce was so hard for her that she is no longer open to finding love again with someone else.

“Oh God, no,” she said when asked if she will be looking for love again in the future. “Because of the challenges that I’m going through right now, because divorce sucks. I can’t imagine ever trusting anyone again to let into my life. So I have some trust issues that I’m sure I’m going to have to get past. Divorce sucks.”

Bertinelli has suffered many setbacks in her life, but she’s always managed to pick herself up and come out the other side. We can only hope that she doesn’t let this latest setback of her show being cancelled get to her too much, because she’s one talented woman who undoubtedly has a bright future ahead of her!

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
