Welch’s Death Certificate Reveals All

Welch’s official death certificate has just been released to the public, and it shows that the Three Musketeers actress died of cardiac arrest at 2:25AM on February 15. It adds that Welch passed away at her home in Los Angeles, and that she has since been cremated.

Sadly, the death certificate also reveals that Welch was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease before her passing, and it lists this as a contributor to her death. This suggests that Welch’s final months were not easy ones for her or her family. Welch had never publicly revealed her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, so it’s come as a shock to her fans.

Daily Mail reported that prior to her death, Welch had not been spotted publicly since July of 2022, when she was photographed heading to a manicure appointment at the J&J Beauty Lounge in Beverly Hills, California. This was the first time that she had been seen in public in nearly two years, and while she appeared to be in good spirits, one can never tell what is really going on behind the scenes.

Welch’s Death

Welch’s death was announced by her longtime manager Steve Sauer, who told People Magazine that she “passed away peacefully early this morning after a brief illness.”

“Her career spanned over 50 years starring in over 30 films and 50 television series and appearances. The Golden Globe winner, in more recent years, was involved in a very successful line of wigs,” he continued. “Raquel leaves behind her two children, son Damon Welch and her daughter Tahnee Welch.”

TMZ reported that 90% of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital die, usually passing away within minutes. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada defines a cardiac arrest as being when “the heart suddenly stops beating.” This causes blood to stop flowing to the brain and other vital organs, and leads to a person stopping breathing and/or losing consciousness.

Welch’s History

Born in Chicago in 1940, Welch made her way to California and got her start as a beauty queen before skyrocketing to fame in the 1960s, quickly becoming an international sex symbol. Unlike many of her peers, however, Welch refused to pose nude onscreen, writing in her memoir that she “always hated feeling so exposed and vulnerable” in love scenes.

“I’ve definitely used my body and sex appeal to advantage in my work, but always within limits,” she said, according to The New York Times. “I reserve some things for my private life, and they are not for sale.”

While she enjoyed her fame, Welch appeared to always be eager to prove that she was more than just a sex symbol.

“As life goes on, you get more valuable as a person. Many women look better,” she told The Los Angeles Times in 2010. “Personally, I think I look better because I have lived and I have a different kind of aura about me having lived.”

While it’s sad to learn that Welch was suffering from Alzheimer’s before her death, we can all find comfort in knowing that she is at peace now. God bless you, Raquel Welch!
