Betty White’s Beloved LA Home Demolished So New Owner Can Build Mansion

The beautiful home that the late great Betty White lived in for 53 years, from 1968 until her death on New Year’s Eve in 2021, has been demolished so that the new owners can build a mansion.

White’s Longtime Home Demolished

Photos obtained by Daily Mail show that the quaint home in the ritzy Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood has been torn down.

This came after it sold in June of last year for $10.678 million. The new owners appear to be intent on building a mansion on the property, as construction workers could be seen laying the groundwork for what appears to be a huge project.

There is sadly nothing left of the 3,029 square foot home that White had lived in for over half a century. Her house boasted five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a pool, and a breathtaking view of the Getty Museum.

White had moved into the home in 1968 with her husband Allen Ludden, living there with him until his death in 1981. She then spent the next forty years living there on her own in the wake of his passing.

White’s Assistant Confirms Demolition

White’s longtime assistant Kiersten Mikelas, who has been running the former “Golden Girls” star’s Instagram page since her death, had announced to fans back in December that the home was being torn down.

“Hello all! I owe a post (or two) I know,” she wrote alongside a photo of the property after the demolition. “This is such a busy time of year and coming up on the anniversary of Betty’s passing is hitting in ways I hadn’t anticipated.”

“Her Brentwood home is no more (save the fireplaces which will be gone in short order),” she added. “I promise a wonderful tribute to our most wonderful lady very soon!!!!”

White’s Death

White died on December 31, 2021 just seventeen days before she would have turned 100. Her death was confirmed by her longtime agent and friend Jeff Witjas, who told People Magazine at the time that White “died peacefully in her sleep at her home.”

“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” Witjas continued. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”

Days before her death, White opened up about how she felt about her impending 100th birthday.

“I’m so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age,” she said at the time. “It’s amazing.”

White ‘Lived A Great Life’

Though she didn’t quite make it to 100, White still led an incredible life that she enjoyed right up until the end.

“Betty lived a great life and she lived a life that she chose,” Witjas said. “She was happy. Every time I told her, ‘Betty, you’re loved,’ she would look at me with a wry smile and say, ‘Really?’ I hope she knew. I think she did. It was something beyond love.”

It’s sad to see that a gorgeous home that White enjoyed for over half a century has been torn down to make room for a new-fangled mansion. One can’t help but think that it’s out with the old and in with the new, and it’s nothing short of sickening to witness.

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
