UFC 286: Is Leon Edwards Simply Unstoppable Now?
For the past several years, Leon Edwards has overcome each and every challenge. Now, he must defend his title at UFC 286.
When a fighter goes on a win streak, you take note. What Leon Edwards has done, though, is even more.
Edwards, the reigning welterweight champion, will put his title on the line for the first time at UFC 286 vs. Kamaru Usman.
This past August, Edwards improved to 20-3 in his career with a stunning fifth-round knockout defeat of Usman. Many felt the former champion was unstoppable, but Edwards proved them wrong.
But that is nothing new to Edwards.
Look at his resume. Since a decision loss to Usman back in 2015, he has not lost in his last 11 fights. He has picked apart the likes of Nate Diaz, Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone, picking up win after win after win.
Some fighters look great after a couple wins. Edwards has looked fantastic for the past six-plus years.
Each time a new challenger has been presented, he has risen to the occasion. Most thought Cerrone would be the one to stop Edwards in 2018.

They were wrong.
Dos Anjos had his chance in 2019 and could not figure him out.
A 2021 bout with Belal Muhammad was stopped in the second due to an eye poke. Edwards quickly returned, dismantling Diaz to earn his shot at Usman.
And revenge.
And that is exactly what he got.
Now, though, it is Edwards who is the hunted. It is Edwards looking to defend. And it is Edwards who will need to prove his worth once more.
