Steve Austin Denies WrestleMania Rumor, Kofi Kington – Surgery

There was a WrestleMania 39 rumor that Steve Austin was offered a WWE match, but he denies it. Also, an update on Kofi Kingston’s surgery.

Steve Austin Denies WrestleMania Rumor

When it pertains to WrestleMania, WWE is known to bring in big names from the past. Case in point, Trish Stratus and Lita are booked for WrestleMania 39.

So, nothing changed this year as other big names, like The Rock, were discussed. Steve Austin was also mentioned for months about possibly wrestling, but nothing materialized.

Word was he was offered a match with Brock Lesnar. Ultimately, reports said he passed and now Lesnar will take on the massive Omos.

While speaking to Justin of The Wrestling Classic, Austin was asked about a WrestleMania 39 match. Basically, he suggested nothing was offered.

“I haven’t heard anything,” said Austin. “We’re literally, as we speak right now, less than two weeks away, and it’s the biggest show of the year.”

“Right now, I think, WWE has got as good a roster as they’ve had since the Attitude Era. They got a deep roster, so I think many guys and gals need those coveted spots.”

“They got plenty of names to draw from and plenty of talent to draw from. I think they should shine the light and the cameras on their current superstars.”

Steve Austin Ended His WWE Career On A High-Note

Austin ended his 20 year retirement at WrestleMania 38 from Texas. Originally, he was advertised as a guest on Kevin Owens’ talkshow.

Quickly, the segment turned into a match where “Stone Cold” left the victor. Also, he looked really good for someone who retired early because of neck problems.

The next night, he appeared towards the end of the show. He left the crowd happy, hitting the stunner on Austin Theory and longtime rival, Vince McMahon.

For many, myself included, I think Austin should not come-out of retirement. He ended on a high note in a place he calls home.

Plus, if he did face Lesnar, many might be concerned about his body. Lesnar is known to be a bit too rough inside the ring.

Of course, Austin might still appear at next month’s WrestleMania 39. Instead of wresting, a few stunners followed by a beer bash would be plenty.

Kofi Kington – Surgery

Speaking of WrestleMania 39, there was talk WWE might have Big E appear alongside the New Day. Now, with Kofi Kingston injured, that idea is likely scrapped.

Kingston suffered an ankle injury on the March 3 episode of SmackDown after Drew McIntyre did a flip dive. It was an accident and nobody is blaming anyone.

The former WWE Champion underwent surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, and seems to be in great spirits. He FaceTimed Xavier Woods and Big E to provide and update and thank everyone for the support.

Kingston also suggested he does remember much of the conversation as he was still regaining consciousness.

No word on when Kofi will be cleared to compete again. For now, there is no rush as two-thirds of New Day are out with injuries.

The lineage of pro wrestling dates back centuries, tying the world together through the art of storytelling. After nearly 30 years of watching, now Joe has the chance to report the news about men and women competing inside a 20-foot by 20-foot ring.
