SmackDown In A Nutshell: Bloodline Family Reunion Rolls On

It’s time for another SmackDown In A Nutshell, and after RAW, we expect the Bloodline family reunion rolls on.

Yes, if you missed it this week, Jimmy and Jey reconciled and attacked Sami Zayn.

Surely this is starting to set up the long-rumored Kevin Owens-Sami Zayn versus The Usos WrestleMania clash?

But, for now, the Bloodline family reunion rolls on, as do a lot of other things.

Just a few weeks out from WrestleMania 39 in Hollywood.

We should probably know who faces GUNTHER by the time we close SmackDown.

Will we know of any other matches? Maybe.

Let’s get into it, shall we?

SmackDown In A Nutshell: Bloodline Family Reunion Rolls On

It’s time to crack open this Nutshell!

Best Match of the night:

While I liked Legado and Judgement Day, the opening bout had this one locked up.

Specifically, the fatal five way.

Perhaps my only gripe? While it ended with two apparent winners, we are getting one more match, instead of a triple threat for the title at WrestleMania.

At least, so far.

Outside of that, while not a match, the main event segment was there for a reason, and it did not disappoint.

Worst match of the night:

I can’t complain about a match tonight, to be honest.

Star of the Night

Collectively, Jimmy and Jey and Cody and Sami.

Specifically, I feel like Jey Uso deserves the nod tonight.

His promo was strong, his explanation solid.

Spot of the Night:

Not a spot, but the show-ending brawl between Rhodes, Zayn, Jimmy and Jey was a nice way to end things.

Jobber of the Night:

Shotzi, but it wasn’t a bad thing overall.

Upset of the Night:

Dom was upset about the news coming next…

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

The first member of the WWE Hall of Fame 2023 class was announced tonight.

Did NOT see it coming.

Like, a masked star? I figured Muta (and he could still be in).

Never imagined Rey Mysterio, not because Rey isn’t good…but because Rey is still active.

Of course, it turned into a Dom-Rey angle, and it seems likely we get them at WrestleMania.

Interesting WWE is still going there, considering Vickie didn’t seem too pleased by it.

Botch of the night:

Not quite a botch, but the suplex Charlotte gave Shotzi right after Rhea came down?

Looked a wee bit scary. At least in real time.

LOL Moment of the night:

Thinking this one over, I really don’t know if anything got me to laugh tonight.

That isn’t a bad thing, for what it’s worth. Sometimes in a two hour show, things just hit hard and serious.

As the Bloodline family reunion rolls on, or tries to, sometimes you need no comedy.

Noteworthy Moment:

The Hall of Fame announcement was big, but we covered that.

As they walked in to kick off the show, there definitely was teased tension between Jey and Paul Heyman.

Could just be a little nod to the last few weeks, could be more cracks waiting to expand.

Overall lowlights:

Maybe I am being too easy tonight, but I have no complaints.

Overall highlights:

As you could figure from the lack of lowlights, this was a fairly strong show from bell to bell.

We got no Kevin Owens, we had just the minimum interaction between Rhea and Charlotte among others…everything worked.

Fans ate up Cody and Sami and The Usos. If we weren’t likely getting KO and Sami Zayn challenging for the tag titles, I would think Cody wanted the tag belts.

The fatal five way for the #1 contender to face GUNTHER? It was beyond solid.

Slightly surprised that we get a follow-up match to determine the true number one, but we still hold out hope for that triple threat match.

All in all, the Bloodline family reunion didn’t go quite as well tonight, but it is rolling on and we are enjoying the ride.

After the final bell:

The Road to WrestleMania is getting really really short, isn’t it?

Just three weeks left from now and we are kicking off WrestleMania weekend.

No Roman Reigns, but that didn’t matter. The Bloodline was hitting on all cylinders without him…but Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn absolutely matched up.

If things keep building up like this, we should have a really strong next few weeks.
