Last week, we reported that chaos erupted on “The View” after Whoopi Goldberg brought up an interview Joy Behar did last year in which she claimed that she was “happy” to be fired by the ABC talk show back in 2013. Goldberg has since responded by bashing the media for daring to report on this story.
“I need to take a second. People, Joy, and I were having fun yesterday and once again you have taken it to some other place,” Goldberg said, according to Fox News. “We have been friends for a hundred years. We’ve been friends for a hundred years.”
“You know, first of all, if I was upset with Joy, I would never do it on the show,” she continued. “I would tell Joy something was bothering me. Please, you know, y’all are making it hard to have fun.”
This came one day after Goldberg brought up a 2022 interview with Time Magazine last year in which Behar claimed she was “happy” to be fired from “The View” a decade ago.
“I always have friends where I work, and if I don’t have friends at the job, I will not keep the job,” Behar explained. “So, when I was fired last time from this show, people say to me, ‘Were you okay with that?’ and my answer is, I was happy, because all my friends had left already. So, there was no reason to stay anymore. I mean it.”

Behar was quick to defend herself when this interview came up.
“I always have friends where I work, and if I don’t have friends at the job, I will not keep the job,” Behar said. “So, when I was fired last time from this show, people say to me, ‘Were you okay with that?’ and my answer is, I was happy, because all my friends had left already. So, there was no reason to stay anymore. I mean it.”
“Really? All your friends left?” Goldberg asked, before fake crying as she said, “It’s okay, I’m cool.”

The next day, however, Goldberg scolded the media for reporting on something that she alleged was a joke.
“This is a show – we’re on and we do our thing for an hour,” she said.”We don’t get to joke a whole bunch because we’re doing a lot of different things. When we are joking, please don’t run with it.”
“This is not the first time this has happened, nor has it been a long time since it happened,” Goldberg added. “This is happening more and more. We joke. We laugh. We have a good time. You can’t take that away from us.”

Last year, Behar blamed the former President Donald Trump for how much “The View” has changed over the years.
“I think that this show really took a change when Trump got in, ’cause we used to have more laughs before he got into office,” Behar said back in June.
“He’s good material for comedians, but, I mean, he became so scary as a leader, whatever he is, as somebody who is such a threat to democracy, that it became very important that we convey what we felt and thought and read about to the audience,” she continued. “And so it became a completely different show. But that’s what happens.”
“The View” has become such a mess these days that Goldberg and Behar should be happy that the media is bothering to write about them at all. Perhaps they should realize that the only reason the story got traction in the first place is that the bulk of us were “happy” when Behar got fired as well.
